Tue Apr 30, 8:43 AM ET By SUSAN SEVAREID, Associated Press Writer JERUSALEM (AP) - Israel decided Tuesday not to cooperate with a United Nations inquiry into the fighting at the Jenin refuge camp until a list of demands has been met, defying a call by U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan to allow his team to begin working immediately. Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres said Tuesday he doubted the United Nations would agree to the Israeli conditions and expressed concern that it would now impose the inquiry on Israel. "I think the immediate danger is that the Security Council will decide to establish this committee without taking into account Israel's opinion," Peres told Israel Army Radio. Peres said he did not expect the United States to veto such a step, since Washington supports the inquiry in principle. Israeli officials had said Monday they expected U.S. support in a showdown with the United Nations in exchange for Israel's agreement to release Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat from confinement. However, Peres denied the United States ever held out such a promise. Israel initially agreed to the formation of the fact-finding team, but then raised a number of concerns. Israel wants a say over who can be called as a witness and what documents will be presented to the panel, and insists that Israeli soldiers be protected from prosecution. Israel wants more counterterrorism experts to be added to the group, and demands that activities by Palestinian militants in the camp also be scrutinized. END Israel is in a no win situation. The so-called UN Jenin Probe is tainted with bias observers. They will not get a fair assessment. Jewish hate crimes are sweeping across Europe and a growing resentment is taking hold. If you were to look at the world as it is today many prophecy students would say that we are nowhere near the tribulation period. There are still too many things that must be in place. Some of the events that still need to take place are the creation of the EU 10 nation confederacy (New Roman Empire) and the war that will come out of the forming of the confederacy in which 3 nations will have to be put down (Daniel 7:24). But what you must consider is that life will change dramatically after the rapture occurs. Without the Christian influence in the world freedom will be on its way out. The Holy Spirit will still be in the world but will not have the same immediate influence. I believe that the timeframe between the rapture and the beginning of the tribulation period (however long that maybe) will see sweeping changes that will call for a leader to come forth. The world may very well be on the brink of total disaster at a much greater level than today. What am I saying? You don't have to see the peace agreement on the table before the rapture occurs. You don't have to see the EU (New Roman Empire) in its final form before the rapture can take place. What do I see for the future? Growing world anger and hostility toward Jews in and out of their country. This will escalate the immigration of Jews back to their homeland. They really have no other choice but to expand their territories into the West Bank. Where else will they put them? I don't see the New Roman Empire making any changes before the rapture occurs. But again I believe the rapture could take place at any moment. The key is, once the rapture takes place, governments and alliances will form that will change the world as we know it. Last thing, during the tribulation the world will see a persecution never before encountered (even in the U.S.). Most scholars believe that this will take place in the first half of the tribulation. Today we have persecution but not like it will be during that horrible time. It should also be mentioned that the world will celebrate the death of the two witnesses by exchanging gifts. I can't imagine exchanging gifts even over the death of Osama Bin Laden. But they will when these two men are killed. Life will have to change very much for that to be an expectable part of life worldwide.
