September 25, 2002 By RAMIT PLUSHNICK-MASTI, Associated Press Writer JERUSALEM (AP) - The Palestinian intelligence chief, who is holed up in Yasser Arafat's besieged compound, said in an interview published Wednesday that he and the Palestinian leader would fight rather than surrender to Israeli forces. The intelligence chief, Tawfik Tirawi, is being held along with Arafat and about 200 other Palestinians in Arafat's largely demolished headquarters, confined to two floors of one wing of the main office building. Israel wants everyone in the compound to surrender, including about 50 alleged terror suspects. Israel has not published a list of names of those it seeks, but has repeatedly mentioned Tirawi as a top suspect. The military has said Tirawi has helped fund militias and was involved in shooting attacks that killed six Israelis. The claims have been met with skepticism by some Israeli commentators, who noted that only a few months ago, Tirawi participated in talks with Israeli security officials, including Avi Dichter, the head of the internal Shin Bet security service. In an interview with the Israeli daily Maariv on Wednesday, Tirawi said he would not turn himself in. "I don't know what surrender is. I have the right and obligation to defend myself. I intend to fight. Yasser Arafat and I will fight to the last minute," Tirawi said. "I know that that these two rooms, where we are confined with President Arafat, are stronger than all your might."END Let's get one thing straight; Yassar Arafat is a coward and a terrorist, and we (U.S. government) should be ashamed of ourselves for even allowing him to be in power. You can be sure he will surrender long before he is ready to leave this world and claim his 72 virgins. Both he and Mr. Tirawi know that they have world opinion on their side and Israel dare not harm Arafat. This standoff will end sooner than later and Israel will be back to square one living in fear of homicide bombers. Arafat will get more money from the E.U. and Arab nations to rebuild his compound. But the day is coming when Israel will sign a peace agreement with the antichrist to be protected from these bombers. It will be successful and many in Israel and around the world will buy into his deception. Whether we will be here to see the beginning stages of this plan is unknown. Will it be soon? I really believe it will! Of course, that is up to the Lord and this could take a few twists and turns before He is ready. But the Bible has always been on time and most Bible believing scholars and ministers believe that we are in the last stages.
