In a measured response ordered by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Israeli forces returned to Bethlehem early today to hunt down those responsible for a suicide bombing in Jerusalem.
Soldiers arrested about 20 suspected militants and sealed off the Church of the Nativity to prevent any militants from taking refuge in the church compound, as they did during a similar Israeli incursion in April.
The army blew up the home near Bethlehem of the 23-year-old bomber behind Thursday's attack and destroyed the houses of two Hamas members in the Gaza Strip, saying the demolitions sent a message that "their deeds have a price." Hamas was one of two Islamic groups that claimed responsibility for the bus bombing.

Benjamin Netanyahu is behind by 16 points in the latest poll as elections loom. This Thursday the Likud party will vote for who will represent them in the January 28th general election. Ariel Sharon is the favorite to win both the primary and general election. Opposition leader Amram Mitzna, although a long shot, hopes to upset Sharon. He favors giving back 1967-captured land and going back to the negotiations table with the Palestinians.
Keep your eyes on this election. If Mitzna upsets Sharon, this could be the push that will finally bring about a peace agreement. Israel will be more open to it then they have ever been.
Between now and then look for continued violence in Israel. The Palestinian plan is to push Israel to the point of despair over the violence and elect Mitzna. They know they have the best chance for regaining land and possibly peace if he is elected. But this peace will be short lived since they're really not interested in peace but to draw closer to finally destroying Israel. If you haven't looked at a map of Israel lately, Israel is only about 9 miles wide in the center if they give back control of the West Bank to the Palestinians. Every military expert on the globe contends that Israel cannot defend itself if that happens.
I must say if Mitzna is elected it will be a miracle and could be a part of God's final plan for readying Israel for the antichrist's peace proposal. As the suicide bombings increase, you can see Israel warming a little more to going back to the table and trading land for peace. Tourism is way down, the economy is in shambles, and their children are senselessly being killed in the streets. If Mitzna wins, that will be a mandate for how the people of Israel are feeling about going back to negotiations. The rapture may not be far behind.
