Hamas
Founder Killed In Israeli Airstrike
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Israel killed Hamas
founder Ahmed Yassin in a helicopter missile strike outside a Gaza City mosque
Monday, prompting threats of unprecedented revenge by Palestinian militants
against Israel and the United States.
Yassin was the most prominent Palestinian leader killed by Israel in more than three years of fighting, and his assassination was seen as a major escalation.
White
House Rebuts Ex-Bush Adviser Claim
WASHINGTON - The White House is disputing
assertions by President Bush (news
- web
sites)'s former counterterrorism coordinator that the administration failed
to recognize the risk of an attack by al-Qaida in the months leading up to Sept.
11, 2001.
National security deputies worked diligently between March and September 2001 to develop a strategy to attack the terror network, one that was completed and ready for Bush's approval a week before the suicide airliner hijackings, the White House said in a statement Sunday.
Comments
On Sunday, Israeli helicopters fired on and killed Hamas founder Ahmed Yassin
prompting threats of revenge against both Israel and the United States. An
Israeli Official said today that the move was calculated and was should have
been done years ago. He also said that Yassin wasn't a spiritual leader,
but a cold-blooded killer responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Israelis.
Leaders around the world, including the E.U., joined in condemning the assassination mainly because they felt it would only serve to escalate an already big situation. I have a feeling it won't be the last major terrorist figure to be assassinated. I won't go as far to say that Yasser Arafat will be next but he should be.
As far as the world community is
concerned, Israel isn't in their best interest. Of course, we as
Christian's know that this is more of a spiritual war than a physical war.
Look for Israel to step up its war on terrorism despite what the world
thinks.
President Bush is in the hot seat again.
Apparently, former counterterrorism coordinator Richard A. Clarke in a new book,
"Against All Enemies" stated that the president completely overlooked
the terror threat from Al-Qaida leading up to the tragedy of 9/11. Of
course, Bush had only been in office for eight months at the time of the strike
and the Clinton Administration the previous eight years. This is nothing
more then an attempt to sell books and possibly to help John Kerry in his
election bid.
In an interview with a foreign affairs expert
on Fox News regarding nuke suitcase bombs in the hands of Al-Qaida, he felt that
if they had them they would have already used them. I cautiously tend to
agree, but feel that it is only a matter of time before they acquire them.
How much longer can the world dodge this bullet?
