April 12, 2002 Posted: 2102 GMT By Ronni Berke UNITED NATIONS (CNN) -- United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan for the first time Friday proposed a multinational force to help halt the escalating violence in the Middle East. His proposal was presented to the Security Council by U.N. Undersecretary General for Political Affairs Kieran Prendergast at a closed meeting. Annan is hoping the Security Council will "keep in mind the experience of Bosnia, where the carnage was allowed to carry on for years before a meaningful international fighting force was put in place," U.N. spokesman Fred Eckhard said. "He wants a force that's strong enough not to be challenged, and one that can secure the environment so that negotiations can be conducted and the Palestinian Authority can rebuild its capacity to govern," he added. "Of course both parties would have to cooperate with the deployment of such a force," Eckhard said, touching on a point of contention with the Israelis, who have steadfastly refused to allow an international force into the West Bank and Gaza. Eckhard said Annan, who is currently in Geneva, felt "something new, something bold" was needed to change the situation. But Annan does not think a U.N. peacekeeping force would be appropriate, he added. "A multinational force can be assembled quickly and deployed quickly," Eckhard said. "We cannot remain neutral as people are being killed on both sides, from one day to the next." END This is a very significant announcement that received little attention. I believe this wilI prove to be bigger then any of us could imagine. I have said for weeks that the future peace treaty with Israel will not start out as a peace treaty at all (see question# 107). I believe that the antichrist will make a pact with Israel for the purpose of protecting them as opposed to bringing peace between the two parties. This is what I see for the future. Fierce fighting will continue in the Middle East to the brink of regional war. But before that happens, I believe the antichrist will step in and set up a multinational peacekeeping force to protect against homicide bombers or a combined Arab nation attack. In J. Dwight Pentecost's book "Things To Come" (copyright 1958), he makes a startling and prophetic declaration about the future. He writes: "According to Daniel 9:26-27 the prince of the Roman empire will make a covenant with Israel for a seven year period. This covenant evidently restores Israel to a place among the nations of the world and the integrity of Israel is guaranteed by the Roman powers. This is not only an attempt to settle the long standing dispute among the nations as to Israel's claim to Palestine, but also a satanic imitation of the fulfillment of the Abrahamic covenant which gave Israel title deed to the land." (Things To Come, Zondervan Publishing, Grand Rapids, MI, pp. 342-343) Shortly after the multinational force is put in place peace negotiations will begin and Israel will concede half of Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine. They may give up a little more land as well. In exchange, Israel will be recognized as a state by the Arab world and they will be allowed to rebuild their holy temple right next to Dome of the Rock (see question# 48). But the multinational force will not leave. They will continue in the region to make sure things don't get out of hand again. Of course, the Arab world has no intention of allowing Israel to exist. A few years into this peace agreement they will attack Israel from all directions with Russia leading the charge (Ezekiel 38 & 39). This will be a time of peace for Israel and the attack will be totally unexpected. Israel will be at the mercy of the invading forces, but God will miraculously step in and destroy the invading armies in the mountains of Israel. Over 80 percent of the enemy forces will be killed. The world will marvel at this great victory and its deliverance will be seen as from God. Who the antichrist will be is unknown. Although in my opinion a few are beginning to raise eyebrows. But as you know many things can change even in a day. Pastor Malone
