CONFIRMED: PM ARIEL SHARON IS (AT LEAST CLINICALLY) DEAD
Reliable sources indicate to Israel Insider that PM Ariel Sharon died at 11 am. Israeli media channels still report his condition is "very grave." Director of Hadassah Hospital Shlomo Mor-Yosef officially denies "rumors" of death and says Sharon's condition is "serious but stable."

Sharon's Successor Prepared To Take Reigns
JERUSALEM — Acting Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who took over after Ariel Sharon suffered a massive stroke, is a seasoned operator and Sharon confidante who is comfortable in cutthroat local politics and in world capitals alike.

Like Sharon, his mentor in recent years, Olmert underwent a political transformation from hawk to moderate, from backing Israeli control of all of the West Bank and Gaza Strip with constant settlement expansion to helping Sharon lead Israel's unilateral withdrawal from Gaza and part of the West Bank in the summer.

“Channel 10 reports those closest to Sharon as saying he has suffered "brain damage." A likely explanation to reconcile the two reports is that Sharon has suffered brain death -- the lack of cerebral activity -- but that his heart continues beating, while he remains anesthetized and respirated.” http://web.israelinsider.com/Articles/Politics/7461.htm

A few hours later, The Director-General of Hadassah Hospital, Dr. Shlomo Mor-Yosef spoke to reporters and said that Prime Minister Sharon was in very serious condition but was not dead.  He stated his reason for coming forward with this information was to keep the public informed and to dispel any rumors that the Prime Minister was dead.

I have to believe that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is dead.  Even if this is untrue, it’s highly unlikely he will ever return to public office again.

With this said, Israel must look to an uncertain political future.  With Sharon out of the picture it’s hard to say who will be the next Prime Minister.

One thing I feel we all must keep in mind is the peace process is bigger than Ariel Sharon.  Whoever takes over will have to be committed to bringing peace to Israel and establishing a Palestinian state.

That pretty much eliminates Likud Chairman Benjamin Netanyahu since he is dead set against giving up any more land and would never split up Jerusalem.  I think we may be looking at acting Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert as the front-runner going into the March 2006 elections.  He is committed to peace, creating a Palestinian state, and finishing the work that Ariel Sharon started.  He’s also very seasoned in hard-nosed political negotiations. But as we have seen time and time again circumstances can change in a moment.

The future may have taken a slight detour but the outcome will still be the same.  I still firmly believe that Israel will eventually split Jerusalem and turn over the eastside as the new capital of a future Palestinian state.  They will give up most, if not all, of the West Bank and will one day rebuild their temple.  And finally, they will sign a seven-year peace agreement with the antichrist.

In the end, it won’t matter who God uses to bring about His purpose.  Essentially, it’s only a matter of time.

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!
