The U.S. and Israel reportedly have a plan to topple Hamas and usher in new elections.  Of course, they deny any such plan exist, but I have no doubt that this report is true.  I don't think Israel or the U.S. would be successful if they attempted a coup or backed a terrorist group to do their dirty work for them.  Problem is, they would create a monstrous international incident that would set off fireworks around the world.  They're just going to have to go with plan B which is to force Hamas through constant world pressure to lay down their arms and recognize Israel.  As more and more nations recognize them as a legitimate government I believe they will eventually fall in line.  That doesn't mean they will abandon their ultimate goal to destroy Israel but they will put on their political face just as so many other Arab countries have done for years.  Trust me, if you think Jordan, Egypt, or Saudi Arabia doesn't have the same goal as Hamas you've got another thing coming.  They've just learned that it doesn't pay to say it out loud.  In time, so will Hamas.

Hamas believes that they don't need the E.U. or the West.  They believe they'll receive enough financial support from Arab countries to run the government.  What they don't understand is that the Palestinian people have been receiving free money (from the E.U. and other sources) for so long they can't survive without it.  This may in and of itself serve as Hamas' undoing.

Something else I find to be strange is what Hamas leader Mahmoud a-Zahar said today.  "We will not recognize Israel; our armed struggle will go on until all of Palestine is “liberated;” we will abrogate the Oslo accords and all the agreements the PLO and the Palestinian Authority signed; all negotiations with Israel must go through a third party; we don’t need money from Israel or “the Satan;” Arab nations will give us money; we have long-range missiles"  http://www.debka.com/

I find it strange that world leaders don't see a-Zahar's words as a declaration of war against Israel.  I guarantee if the leaders of Mexico, Canada or even Cuba were to make statements of this magnitude toward the U.S. they'd probably demand clarification and ready themselves for possible military action.  But due to world pressure Israel will continue to bite its lip.

So what does the future hold?  I can't imagine Israel or the U.S. holding off to much longer before they put a stop to Iran's nuclear endeavors.  But intelligence sources say a strike would only delay the inevitable and it might even set off a war in the region.  Iran claims they're not Iraq and rising oil prices would only be the tip of the iceberg, but we've heard all that before.  I don't believe Israel or the U.S. are worried about Iran's war machine but they are a little concerned about what their Russian and Chinese allies might think.

I have to say this is a very sensitive time when one wrong move could be lethal.  This brings to a greater light the prophecy found in II Timothy 3:1 which states  "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come."

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is  running out!
