Rocket Attacks on Israel Leave 8 Dead...
MAALOT, Israel (Reuters) - Hizbollah rockets killed eight people in northern Israel on Thursday, equaling the most lethal barrage launched by the Lebanese guerrilla group since fighting began more than three weeks ago.

The deaths, in the cities of Acre and Maalot, raised to 27 the number of people killed by rocket fire from Lebanon during the current conflict.

UNITED NATIONS - France circulated a revised U.N. resolution Thursday calling for an immediate halt to Israeli-Hezbollah fighting and spelling out conditions for a permanent cease-fire in Lebanon.

Islamic leaders warn on Lebanon
The UN Security Council lacks the courage to condemn Israeli attacks on Lebanon, Malaysia's PM has said, as Islamic states hold crisis talks.

He and other leaders from the world's Muslim nations warned of the effects of the violence in the Middle East as they met to discuss the crisis.

The Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is expected to call for an immediate ceasefire. The leaders are also likely to back an international force for Lebanon.

The presidents of Iran and Indonesia and the prime ministers of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey and Azerbaijan are among the representatives of 18 Islamic countries at the emergency one-day summit, which was called last week.

Gaza 'crisis as bad as Lebanon'
The United Nations has called on world leaders not to forget the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, saying it is at least as serious as that in southern Lebanon.

More than 140 people have been killed during Israel's operations there over the past month, many of them civilians.

Muslim nations demand Israeli ceasefire
PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia (AFP) - Muslim nations have demanded an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East and warned that boiling anger over the Israeli offensive in Lebanon could launch a new wave of terrorism.

With Muslims around the world enraged by the carnage in Lebanon, where the death toll has topped 900, the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) convened an emergency meeting here to map out a unified Islamic response.

Hezbollah: No Cease-Fire Without Pullout...
Hezbollah's chief spokesman said Thursday that his group will not agree to a cease-fire until all Israeli troops leave Lebanon. "Declaring a cease-fire is not the concern of the people of Lebanon as long as there is one Israeli soldier on Lebanese soil _ even one meter (into Lebanon)," Hezbollah spokesman Hussein Rahal said in a live interview with Al-Jazeera television.

"We will not accept any (Israeli) soldier staying on Lebanese territory, and it is the right of every Lebanese to fight until liberation," he said.

Iranian President: Solution to Middle East crisis is to destroy Israel...
PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday the solution to the Middle East crisis was to destroy Israel, Iranian state media reported.

In a speech during an emergency meeting of Muslim leaders in Malaysia, Ahmadinejad also called for an immediate cease-fire to end the fighting between Israel and the Iranian-back group Hezbollah. "Although the main solution is for the elimination of the Zionist regime, at this stage an immediate cease-fire must be implemented," Ahmadinejad said, according to state-run television in a report posted on its Web site.

Rumors Of Temple Mount Showdown...
The Islamic Movement warned Wednesday against the possibility that Jewish groups would try to reach the Temple Mount on Thursday (The Ninth of Av) and damage the Al Aqsa Mosque.

The group's warning follows a Supreme Court decision made earlier this week, ordering police to allow whoever wants to visit the Temple Mount during regular visiting hours on the Ninth of Av.

Generals Raise Fears of Iraq Civil War...
The top U.S. military commander in the Middle East told Congress on Thursday that "Iraq could move toward civil war" if the raging sectarian violence in Baghdad is not stopped.

"I believe that the sectarian violence is probably as bad as I have seen it," Gen. John Abizaid, the commander of U.S. Central Command, told the Senate Armed Services Committee. He said the top priority in the Iraq war is to secure the capital, where factional violence has surged in recent weeks despite efforts by the new Iraqi government to stop the fighting.

Thursday morning Hezbollah rockets killed at least eight Israelis in northern Israel.  That brings the total to twenty-seven Israelis killed by Hezbollah rockets since the fighting began over three weeks ago.

"Israel will actively seek out and pursue Hizbollah, until these murderous attacks cease and until quiet is restored to northern Israel," said David Baker, an official in Olmert's office.  http://today.reuters.com/news/newsarticle.aspx?type=topNews&storyid=2006-08-03T162307Z_01_L30823603_RTRUKOC_0_US-MIDEAST-1.xml&src=rss&rpc=22

This war is twenty-two days old and there looks to be no end in sight.  Both sides seem to have no interest in a ceasefire, and even if they did, I doubt it would last for any length of time.

Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah vowed revenge today for Israel's bombardment of Beirut, but also said he would stop the rocket attacks if Israel would stop its assault on Lebanon.

I don't see that happening for at least another week or until Israel feels their objectives have been met. Nasrallah also said in his TV address that Hezbollah was inflicting "maximum casualties" on the Israeli army.  The truth is Hezbollah is getting pounded and have lost hundreds of soldiers.  On top of that, they're hiding among the civilian population using them as shields and deceiving the world in the hopes of fostering a false outrage.

France is trying to breath new life into a faltering international call for a ceasefire.  Today, they circulated a new watered down UN resolution that called for an immediate ceasefire and spelled out details that would lead to a permanent ceasefire.

"U.N. Deputy Secretary-General Mark Malloch Brown said Wednesday night the Americans and French were working on a two-stage process: An initial resolution would focus on a cease-fire and broad political principles for a settlement, and a second resolution would deal with an international peacekeeping force, border security and other long-term issues."

"Doing it in at least two resolutions, if not more, creates much more manageable, bite-sized ways of moving the diplomacy forward and allowing you to stop the fighting at the start, rather than waiting until the end of a torturous, complex, long diplomatic process," Malloch Brown said on PBS's "The Newshour with Jim Lehrer."  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060803/ap_on_re_mi_ea/mideast_fighting_un;_ylt=AjpImMoVdFGOmhbIaUFOtO1vaA8F

Personally, I believe this war will go on for at least one more week, but if not, it really doesn't matter...this war is eventually going to lead to either the battle of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38 & 39) or the appearing of the man of sin.  Certainly I'm no prophet, but the scriptures seem to point us in this direction.  Eventually, they're both going to come.

This is the scenario I see for the future. Both Israel and the free world are tired of the constant war and rumors of war in the Middle East.  Look for a ceasefire to come in the next few weeks in both southern Lebanon and Gaza.  Prime Minister Ehud Olmert says that he's willing to accept an international force in southern Lebanon but he wants a real army of at least 15,000 peacekeeping soldiers who are able to enforce UN resolutions.  In the past, the UN peacekeeping forces have been made up of retirees and vacationers who were only interested in observing the situation.  He wants a battle ready force who is able to stand up to the terrorist groups and defeat them if necessary.  I believe he will get his wish.

It's hard to say which will come first the appearing of the antichrist or the war of Gog and Magog.  Personally, I believe the antichrist will come on the scene first making peace with Israel and then straighten out a host of other unresolved world problems (North Korea, Iran, India, Pakistan, etc.).  But certainly, it is very possible that the ceasefire could take place and lead right into this great war a year or so down the road.  My only apprehension to the latter theory is that Ezekiel 38:14 describes the time leading up to the war described in Ezekiel 38 & 39 as a "day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely".  I'm not so sure Israel will ever see that day until the antichrist comes on the scene and brings a temporary peace and when Jesus reigns supreme for one thousand years during the Millennium Age.

The truth is, virtually all Bible believing prophecy teachers, preachers and scholars are calling this a time of great prophetic significance.  Something great is about to happen!  The question still remains for all that read this....

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!  Turn your life over to Jesus today before it's too late.

This just in: Paris says that they will not commit troops to the peacekeeping force if Israel will not commit to a long-term peace deal.  Read below:

"The United States and France, diplomats said, are ironing out differences on an initial resolution calling for a truce, a buffer zone and the disarmament of Hizbollah.

But Paris has insisted it will not send troops without a truce and an agreement in principle on the framework for a long-term peace deal by Israel, Hizbollah and the Beirut government. Washington wants a force as soon as fighting stops." http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060803/ts_nm/mideast1_dc_27
