France and the U.S. have come to an agreement on a revised
U.N. resolution aimed at ending the hostilities between Israel and the Hizbollah
terrorist organization. As usual, the wording had to be revised to make
everyone happy. Here is an excerpt from the article:
"The resolution calls for an embargo on arms for Hizbullah terrorists but does not provide for disarming them, according to an Israeli government source. It also calls for an effective international force to patrol southern Lebanon, and be empowered to apply force and sanctions to any party who breaks the ceasefire agreement." http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=109754
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has agreed to hold off on widening the campaign until the weekend to give diplomacy a chance. A vote on the resolution could be as early as Friday.
EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana is heading to the Middle East on Friday to try and hammer out a diplomatic solution to the current Israeli-Hizbollah standoff. He will start with Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora on Friday, then head for Israel on Saturday to discuss the situation separately with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas.
"He is working for an end to hostilities and the launching of a process to create the political framework for a lasting solution," a statement from his office said.
"This process will begin with the adoption of a UN Security Council Resolution to end the hostilities," it added. http://www.eubusiness.com/afp/060810143127.qnnn2ruw
Britain has foiled a major terrorist plot that was slated to try a dry run in just a couple of days. If you haven't already heard, the plot was aimed at taking down as many as a dozen airplanes on trans-Atlantic flights and cause "mass murder".
"The terrorists planned to carry the components of the bombs, including liquid explosive ingredients and detonating devices, disguised as beverages, electronic devices or other common objects," he said. http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews.aspx?type=topNews&storyid=2006-08-10T191106Z_01_L10913913_RTRUKOC_0_US-SECURITY-BRITAIN.xml&src=rss&rpc=22
I've said this for many years, it's not if but when! The terrorist will keep attempting and one day they will succeed again in bringing widespread fear around the world. This is just another sign of the end times that is coming to fruition in these last days. With everything else going on in the world and the Middle East, "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come (II Timothy 3:1)." And this is only the beginning! It is my belief that a successful terrorist plot will play a significant role in the next world war.
If you have been a reader of mine for a few years you know that from the beginning I have said that Turkey would never become a member of the European Union. There is a very good reason for my belief...they will play a major role in the Russian-Arab attack on Israel in the near future (Gog & Magog War; Ezekiel 38 & 39).
Over the years E.U. leaders have given them countless assurances that they would one day be accepted, but that day is never going to come. In fact, there is significant proof that they have already abandoned their E.U. membership pursuits and are now aligning themselves with Russia and the Arab world.
Even the world military experts are seeing the shift. Turkey was once seen as an important western link to the Arab world but that looks to be all but crumbling before their eyes. In the last few years Turkey has made some significant military and financial pacts with the Arab world. According to Middle East Newsline, an Arab military website, Turkey and Saudi Arabia are on the verge of signing a "formal agreement on military cooperation".
"Officials said the two countries were expected to sign a formal agreement on military cooperation during the current three-day visit by Saudi King Abdullah to Ankara. On Tuesday, Abdullah, accompanied by senior defense officials, arrived in the first visit by a Saudi monarch to Turkey since 1966." http://www.menewsline.com/stories/2006/august/08_10_2.html
