Israel to Halt War in Lebanon on Monday
Israel will halt its war in Lebanon at 7 a.m. Monday (midnight EDT Sunday night), a senior Israeli government official said Saturday.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment publicly on the sensitive matter. Israel's Cabinet was to endorse the U.N. cease-fire resolution later Sunday.

Hizbullah leader commits to abide by cease-fire; Nasrallah lets Lebanese army, UNIFIL deploy in s. Lebanon
Hizbullah Leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah said on Saturday that if a UN-endorsed agreement were reached that would end the hostilities, then his organization would abide by it.

In a televised speech on Hizbullah-run al-Manar television, he said that he would allow for the deployment of the Lebanese army, augmented by UNIFIL forces, to deploy in southern Lebanon.

Still, he said he had some reservations against the resolution, but noted he would bring those up at the Lebanese cabinet meeting that would be convened on Saturday evening. His strongest reservation was against the arms embargo that the cease-fire agreement called for.

Despite resolution, Israel will press offensive "for the time being"
PM Ehud Olmert's office said late Friday that the expanded incursion into Lebanon would continue "for the time being," despite agreeing to a cease-fire resolution drafted by the United Nations Security Council, Haaretz reported. Israel will press ahead with its military offfensive in south Lebanon until Israel's Cabinet approves the deal, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said. Meanwhile, fighting continued in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah fires 250 rockets into Israel
JERUSALEM - Hezbollah fired more than 250 rockets into Israel on Sunday, the worst barrage against northern Israel since the fighting began more than a month ago, the army said. The rockets killed one Israeli during the day. After a stormy debate Sunday, Israel's Cabinet approved a Mideast cease-fire, agreeing to silence the army's guns in less than 24 hours. The Israeli military embarked on a last-minute push to devastate Hezbollah guerrillas, rocketing south Beirut with missiles.

Peretz to Solana: Secure abductees' release
Defense Minister Amir Peretz made it clear Sunday morning during his meeting with European envoy Javier Solana that the ceasefire resolutions passed by the United Nations Security Council be implemented in full, including the disarmament of Hizbullah.

Comments
The Israeli Cabinet voted Sunday to accept the U.N. resolution aimed at bringing about a ceasefire with Iran/Syria proxy army Hizbollah.  But Israel said it won't leave southern Lebanon until the 15,000 international peacekeeping troops are in place (along with 15,000 Lebanese troops).  Hizbollah also said it would not stop fighting until every last Israeli soldier has left Lebanon.  So the war will go on for at least another week which is believed to be the earliest international peacekeeping troops can be deployed.

Certainly, this war isn't over yet, and the truth is when it does resurface, I don't believe Hizbollah will be alone.  I think this war has demonstrated that a small, although well trained, guerrilla army could hold their own with one of the finest armies in the world.  I think its given the Arab world a false belief that Israel may not be the feared military that it once was...and maybe they're not!  But that matters little as far as scripture is concerned.  In the end, when Russia and the Arab armies march against Israel, causing the international peacekeeping army to flee, God will bring about a deliverance the world will never forget.

Personally, I'm torn between whether the War of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38 & 39) or the antichrist will come first.  This is what I wrote back on August 4, 2006 and may end up being the scenario leading to the tribulation period:

"It's possible that this present Israeli-Lebanese war could end in a lengthy ceasefire and the deployment of a real international military force that is able to defeat a terrorist army.  If this happens that would certainly provide Israel with the security they are looking for and possibly bring about a time of safety (Ezekiel 38:14), but if the length of the ceasefire/peace plan is not seven years, it's not the peace plan that the antichrist will bring.  The question is could this ceasefire constitute a time when "Israel dwelleth safely" described in the Bible or will that happen after the antichrist brings peace?

If this does turn out to be a time of rest for Israel without a permanent time span (seven years) the Russian-Arab attack may be coming in the very near future.  If this is the case, look for a permanent peace plan to follow between the nations involved.  Even though the Bible is clear that the Russian and Arab armies will be soundly and miraculously defeated these countries will not be wiped out.  They will go on and the antichrist's seven-year peace agreement may come to bring peace between these nations.

Either way, after the signing of the seven-year plan, that will start day one of the tribulation period."  http://www.calvaryprophecy.com/q657.html

I can't tell you what will happen in the next few days, weeks or months.  I can't tell you how long the ceasefire will last or even if it will materialize at all. What I do know is that the Bible tells us that God will one day bring forth the man of sin, judge the nations, and plunge the world into a horror that no man has ever experienced on earth.  The question is are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not your time is running out!
