Israel
foreign minister: Lebanon situation 'explosive'
PARIS - Israel's foreign minister on
Wednesday called the situation in Lebanon "explosive" and urged the
international community to work quickly to deploy peacekeeping troops there.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Saniora urged the United States to help
end Israel's sea and air blockade, and said his country was making "every
effort" to secure its borders.
Israeli
PM rules out talks with Syria...
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert
yesterday ruled out any resumption of peace talks with Syria, which stalled for
more than six years ago, as long as Damascus continues to support
"terrorism."
"As long as Syria continues to support terrorism, there is no basis for negotiations," Olmert said.
"When Syria stops support for terror, when it stops giving missiles to terror organisations, then we will be happy to negotiate with them," he said.
US
says Iran reply falls short of demands
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States said on Wednesday
that Iran's response to a package of incentives offered from world powers fell
short of a U.N. Security Council demand that Tehran abandon enrichment
activities.
Russia
offers to mediate between Iran and the West on the nuclear dispute
Moscow and Beijing urge taking Tehran up on
its offer of serious negotiations in response to the six-power proposal of
incentives in return for giving up uranium enrichment. The Security Council has
given Iran until August 31 to make that announcement failing which the United
States will press for a separate resolution imposing sanctions.
Ancient
biblical waterworks found in Israel
RAMAT RACHEL, Israel (Reuters) -
Archaeologists in Israel have unearthed an ancient water system which was
modified by the conquering Persians to turn the desert into a paradise.
Why
this man (Almadinejad) should give us all nightmares
Why shouldn't Iran have nuclear weapons? We have them, so has America, France,
Russia, Israel, China, Pakistan, India and possibly North Korea. So why make
such a fuss about Iran?
After all, we gulped, but then decided to accept Pakistan's and India's nuclear bombs. Why? Because we recognised that their bombs are, essentially, a continuation of the Mutually Assured Destruction doctrine which, as a deterrent, kept us from nuclear Armageddon throughout the Cold War.

Syria
is threatening the closure of the Lebanese-Syrian border if U.N. peacekeeping
troops are deployed along their border. This
would prevent traffic coming or going from either country.
Israel, on the other hand,
says it won’t lift its sea and air blockade if they’re not deployed on the
border. Israel, and anyone with good commonsense, believes Hizbollah
is being re-armed by Iran by way of Syria…and you can bet they are.
Here’s a story that just
doesn’t make any sense at all. Apparently,
Amnesty International, a human rights group, is accusing Israel of war crimes
against Lebanon.
The report said “the
widespread destruction of apartments, houses, electricity and water services,
roads, bridges, factories and ports,” taken with statements by Israeli
officials, “suggests a policy of punishing both the Lebanese government and
the civilian population in an effort to get them to turn against Hezbollah.” http://jta.org/page_view_breaking_story.asp?intid=4352
It amazes me that everyone
in the (free) world recognizes Hizbollah to be a proxy army of Syria and Iran
who is based illegally in Lebanon except Amnesty International.
If terrorists are allowed to kidnap Israeli soldiers and fire missiles
from Lebanon…then Lebanon will have to be held accountable.
And if Hizbollah fights and hides within Lebanese population centers then
that’s where the war will have to be fought.
Hizbollah has proven time
and again that they care nothing about the safety of the Lebanese people.
Let’s not forget that virtually all of Hizbollah missiles were aimed at
Israeli population centers. They
chose not to target military installations.
No other country in the
world would put up with what Israel has endured.
Certainly not the U.S. as they proved when they overthrew Afghanistan’s
ruling Taliban after they refused to give up the leaders of Al Qaeda.
Nobody was crying that the response was disproportional then!
Today, I read an article
titled “Why This Man Should Give Us All Nightmares”.
The man the article is referring to is Iranian President Mahmoud
Almadinejad.
Certainly, since his rise to power in 2005, he has made a number of eyebrow raising statements toward Israel and the West. But it is his strict religious beliefs and apocalyptic speeches that have produced many a restless nights for leaders around the globe. He even decided to make his response to the U.N. resolution on a sacred day (August 22nd) in the Islamic calendar.
It is the day on which the Prophet Mohammed made his miraculous night flight from Jerusalem to heaven and back on Buraq, the winged horse.
As one Iranian exile told me yesterday: 'The trouble with you secular people is that you don't realise how firmly Ahmadinejad believes - literally - in things like the winged horse. By choosing this date for his decision, he is telling his followers that he is going to obey his religious duty.
'And he believes that his religious duty is to create chaos and bloodshed in the "infidel" world, in order to hasten the return of the Mahdi - the Hidden Imam. So don't expect him to behave, in your eyes, "reasonably".' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/newscomment.html?in_article_id=401858&in_page_id=1787
Whether you believe it or not God has even raised up Almadinejad for this moment in time…and you can bet his day is coming.
Can he bring about the chaos that he believes he must bring in order to usher in his messiah? Not unless the one true God allows it, and in the end, I can assure you he won’t like the results. Are you ready to meet the Lord? If not, your time is running out!
