DEBKAfile Exclusive: Iran resumed weapons airlift to Hizballah via Beirut Friday as soon as Israel ended its air blockade
Iran’s first post-blockade arms flight departed Dubai Friday, Sept. 8, to test the ground at Beirut international airport for Israeli air force or UN reactions. DEBKAfile’s military sources report that the forbidden goods were unloaded and sailed through the airport unhindered. Tehran therefore determined to send two further bulk consignments in the next 48 hours aboard commercial flights from the Persian Gulf.

Our sources report the arms crates listed were on the documents as “computer equipment. Handle with care.” They were offloaded onto trucks which drove in convoy to Hizballah headquarters in Baalbek.

Olmert, Blair to meet for talks on Middle East situation
A meeting between the Israeli and British prime ministers was scheduled to take place in Jerusalem on Saturday, officials said.

The meeting was set to begin the evening of a planned mass demonstration in Tel Aviv's Rabin Square, in which citizens, politicians and religious leaders were to call on the government to set up a state inquiry commission to examine whether officials mishandled the war in Lebanon.

US-Russian Military Cooperation Appears Strained
Moscow (CNSNews.com) - In a further sign of deteriorating in U.S.-Russian military exchanges, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has put off an annual joint military exercise with U.S. forces.

The Torgau 2006 exercise, which was scheduled to begin in late September in Russia's central Novgorod region, aimed to improve bilateral military cooperation and planning of joint operations.

Report: Russia to stop Iran plant if inspectors expelled
High-ranking Russian source says Moscow will stop building Iran's first atomic

Comments
A report quoting an unnamed high ranking Russian source says that Moscow will halt construction of Iran's first nuclear plant if they expel UN nuclear inspectors.

"If Iran expels the IAEA inspectors, we will immediately halt our work," the source said.

"I think the reason Iran has not expelled the inspectors yet is that they do not want us to stop our work," he added. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3301404,00.html

But Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has denied the report calling it "a provocation, saying that "many are trying to worsen the situation around the Iranian nuclear program."

Speaking of Russia...there remains the big 2008 election question...will Vladimir Putin run for a third term?  The constitution forbids a person from running for a third consecutive term, but with a 77% approval rate, many are calling for an amendment to clear the way.  In fact, in a recent poll, 59% stated they were in favor of allowing President Putin to run for a third consecutive term.  It would take approval from both houses of parliament and regional legislators to make it happen.  Certainly, that wouldn't be a problem since they're all hand picked.  But Putin claims he's not running for re-election and there are rumors he is already grooming his successor.

I can't see Russian President Putin stepping down under any circumstance, but I don't see him having to force the move either.  Although the West would not be crazy about another fours years with Putin at the helm it would be the lesser of two evils.  Unless he decides against it, look for Vladimir Putin to find a way to legally run and be elected to a third consecutive term.

After Israel agreed under pressure to end its air blockade, DEBKAfile has learned that Iran has resumed arm shipments to Hizbollah.  UN Secretary General Kofi Annan pledged to Israeli officials that they would monitor airport traffic and shipments insuring that no weapons or military goods would slip through.  But he failed to secure an agreement with Lebanese Prime Minister Siniora who immediately barred all UN inspectors from the airport.  This is what DEBKAfile has learned:

"Our military sources disclose that Iran is sending Hizballah fresh supplies of anti-tank weapons and for the first time a large quantity of anti-air missiles. The war materiel is coming in by land, sea and air."  http://www.debka.com/

Anyone who thinks this war is over has another thing coming.  I look for another build-up of weapons and probably right under the UN's respective noses.  Whether the UN wants to admit or not Kofi Annan has a not so secret agenda against Israel.  He doesn't want to see Israel living in peace, although for the sake of his legacy, he would support it.  But he, along with the rest of the UN, want Israel destroyed once and for all.

The truth is, the day is coming that the friends of Israel (U.S.) will come to the conclusion that Israel has become a liability.  Most of the world either hates Israel or has already come to that conclusion.  They're only waiting for the rest to get on board.  The only question is will (false) peace come before or after the world turns its back on Israel?

Something else to think about...Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D'Alema was in the Middle East this week meeting with Israeli and Arab leaders hoping to restart the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.  Anytime the Italians get involved in the Middle East peace process it brings to mind Daniel 9:26 & 27 which speaks of a future Roman ruler that will make peace with Israel in the last days.  Could this be the talks that successfully brings peace with many?

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!
