Question
Hey Pastor Malone,

I was reading some articles from you and you directed your readers to an article about the six thousand year period from Adam to judgment, (that wasn't the title but that was the main idea). This article also referred to something about counting Jubilees but when I clicked on the link it wouldn't go there. Can you get me that article? Or can you give your interpretation of the timing of this?

The article that put the end of the 6,000 years of man at about 2028 was very intriguing because if this is true, (though no man can know the day or the hour), it would help explain how the day and hour can be taken from the everyday knowledge of the "average Joe on the street."

During the year of 2000 there was a world wide since of something is going to happen. When it didn't many in the church were disappointed and many unchurched were able to say I told you so.

Though I of course agree that the Lord could come at any time, and the prophets have always been unsure of exactly what the Lord has meant concerning many of the prophecies, it does appear that a few things still need to get in place for the final economy and world government to be ready for the antichrist. Also the moral decay, though it is real bad now, isn't yet at the stage we saw in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. In certain pockets of society it is that way but it's not prevalent in society. I have tended to believe that we would approach that stage of decadence when the Lord would be ready to appear. Of course the removing of the Holy Spirit in His restraining work will allow the rapid decay to that point and beyond.

Anyway it does appear to me that a little more time is needed to "arrange things" so to speak for the world to be ready for it's final judgment.

I would love to take a look at the timing suggested in this Counting Jubilees article.

Thanks,

Answer
Another reader sent that article to me.  I would do a search on "year of jubilee 2028".  With that search phrase you will probably find what you're looking for.

My take on the article is mixed.  Personally, I'm not a big fan of believing that you can determine the coming of the Lord through feast days or any other way.  Jesus gave us some signs, and frankly, that is all we need. As far as I know, He never mentioned a holy day to be one of them.

Now regarding the question of whether it is time for the Lord to come and rapture the church. It could be raining money all over the world with celebration in the streets.  It could be a time of plenty with absolutely no signs of the antichrist or peace. Israel could be living peaceably in their homeland.  The point I'm trying to make is the way things look at this moment can change in the moment in the twinkling of an eye.

You don't know how many emails I got from readers and armchair prophets who were certain the Lord was coming because of the flare up in Gaza and Lebanon.  Certainly, they have that right and I too get excited when a major battle with Israel takes place.  Given the day and age we Christian's live in it's only natural.

I'm of the belief that the world will be under different leadership when the Lord raptures the church.  When I say different leadership, following the rapture, God will allow satan to take center stage and develop his kingdom.

Whether he is already developing his kingdom on this side of the rapture is irrelevant...he will only be allowed to go so far.  But when the rapture takes place he will be unopposed by the Holy Spirit and will move at a rate that will change things very quickly.

I do agree with what you are saying...at the present rate things seem to be moving very slow and has led some to believe it could be decades before the rapture starts.

We're looking for things to happen that we believe will usher in the antichrist and start the Great Tribulation Period.  Actually, there is only one event that must precede the rapture of the church...the rebirth of Israel.  Yes, there are many prophecies that describe the condition (Matthew 24:38; Luke 17:26 & 27), climate (Matthew 24:7), and alliances (Ezekiel 38 & 39; Matthew 24:7) of the last days, but truthfully, they could all take place after the rapture as well as before.  I say this because I still believe there will be a gap of time between the rapture and the start of the Tribulation Period that could last years. By the time it's over the E.U. could have its constitution in place and elect a permanent president.

Yes, the rapture may be years down the road but I don't necessarily believe it will be for the purpose of arranging things.

I hope I answered your question.

In Other News
Oil has been discovered in the Dead Sea area.  Many Bible scholars have long said that in the last days oil would be found in or around the Dead Sea.

At this time, the significance of this find is unknown, but an official from Genco, the national company responsible for drilling in the region is very excited.

"We noticed that the pressure in the area was very high and when we opened the tap, oil started flowing freely for several minutes," Tenenbaum told Channel 10.

“Tenenbaum said that the workers washed their hands with the "black gold" when they made the discovery. "We hope it was the first of many [such discoveries]," he added excitedly.

Not far from the drilling site, the crew spotted an oil reserve that Tenenbaum described as "very attractive," which they believed contained between four and six million barrels, worth an estimated 300 million dollars.”  http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull&cid=1159193368922
