Are Israelis gearing up to bomb Iran?
The Middle East is abuzz with ugly rumours. One of them is so dire - and comes from sources in so many capital cities - that it has to be taken seriously.

The suggestion is that the Israeli government has served notice on the White House that it must take pre-emptive action against Iran's sites of nuclear weapons development - or Israel will go it alone and do the job itself. Israel has apparently given Bush a deadline of six months.

Iran will soon 'push button' for industrial nuclear fuel...
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has predicted that Iran would soon "push the button" on production of nuclear fuel for industrial uses, a news agency reported.

"Iran has the fuel cycle and very soon we will push the button on nuclear fuel production for industrial uses," Ahmadinejad said in a speech in the town Ghotvand in the western Khuzestan province, the IRNA news agency said Wednesday.

Experts: Israel capable of taking out Iran's nukes
According to a respected Israeli think tank, Iran will possess nuclear weapons unless military action is taken. Israel is capable of staging such an attack but should only do so as a last resort, the group of security experts said in an annual report. The group also expressed serious doubts that sanctions will have any effect on the Iranian nuclear program or on Iran's president's expressed intentions to 'wipe Israel off the map.'

Hezbollah holds talks with Saudi king: source
BEIRUT (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah held talks on Lebanon's political crisis with a Hezbollah leader last week in his first such contact with the Iranian-backed Shi'ite Muslim group, a Lebanese political source said on Wednesday.

Hezbollah deputy chief Sheikh Naim Kassem and a senior aide, Mohammed Fneish, flew to Jeddah on a private Saudi jet on December 26 for the meeting with the monarch and his foreign minister, Prince Saud al-Faisal, the senior political source said

Robertson Predicts 'Mass Killing'
I
n what has become an annual tradition of prognostications, religious broadcaster Pat Robertson predicted Tuesday that a terrorist attack on the United States would result in "mass killing" late in 2007.

"I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," he said during his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network. "The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that."

Saddam co-defendants to be hanged Thursday
Barzan Ibrahim, former intelligence chief and Saddam Hussein’s half brother, and Awad Hamed al-Bandar, the former chief justice of the Revolutionary Court, were sentenced to death for the killing of Sunnis in Dujail after a failed assassination attempt against Saddam.

German EU presidency lumbered with massive to-do list
When large countries take over the six-month presidency of the European Union they generate a huge level of expectation although past experience shows that they are not always the most effective presidencies.

77% of Israelis dissatisfied with Olmert's performance
Sixty nine percent of Dahaf survey participants say PM's leadership skills are not good, and 60% have a low opinion of his integrity.

Iran website heralding 'Mahdi' by springtime
An official state media website in Iran has posted a message heralding the coming of the Shiite messianic figure, Imam Mahdi, noting he could arrive with Jesus by the spring equinox.

"Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) will appear all of a sudden on the world scene with a voice from the skies announcing his reappearance at the holy Ka'ba in Mecca," the message says.

Comments
If you haven't heard, Reverend Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian network CBN, said that God told him the U.S. would face a terrible tragedy of a national magnitude in mid to late 2007.  This is what he said on "The 700 Club" stopping short of declaring a nuclear attack.

"I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," he said during his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network. "The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that." http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/01/02/robertson.predictions.ap/index.html

A reader asked me what I thought about Pat Robertson's comments.  This is what I told him.

"I believe something of a great magnitude will happen in 2007 in the U.S. but not because Pat Robertson said so.  I'm not sure where I stand on Mr. Robertson.  In public, he seems like a
legitimate minister.  We'll have to wait and see.

Personally, God has never told me the future outside of the Word.  Maybe he knows something I don't.

But he now opens himself up to being [called] a false prophet and possibly someone who is looking for publicity.  That certainly isn't good for mainstream Christians."

I do not believe that an attack of this magnitude will take place before the rapture, but of course, that's a personal belief.  Certainly, many experts have been predicting this kind of attack as inevitable.  I certainly wouldn't rule it out!

Yesterday, I brought to you the rumor that Israel was putting pressure on the U.S. to stop Iran's nuclear program or they would.  Many experts believe that Israel is pressuring the U.S. to do something because they don't have the air power to pull it off without their help.  It is believed that Israel lacks the ability to perform all the midair refueling of jets necessary to pull off such an operation.

Israel fired back today saying that they are more than capable of going it alone and destroying all targets.  "Time is working in Iran's favor, and barring military action, Iran's possession of nuclear weapons is only a matter of time," Tel Aviv University's Institute for National Security Studies said.  http://web.israelinsider.com/Articles/Security/10219.htm

I agree, time is running out for the Israeli government and I can't see them waiting much longer to go forward with there plans.

Certainly, this would be within the plan of God as all events are, but it could take another twist so to speak.  It is not out of the question that Iran (and Russia) could come to the conclusion that an attack is inevitable and mobilize a great army to once and for all destroy Israel.  Russia may only get into the fight to protect its nuclear investment in Iran.

I don't believe nuclear weapons would be used in this scenario due to the fact that it would contaminate all of Israel and much of the surrounding territory.  Israel's neighbors, who will take part in the attack, would not stand for that.

Another scenario that could materialize...just before Israel attacks Iran a man steps forward and brings peace to the region.  This peace plan would bring stability and peace to the Middle East, but although it will span for seven-years...it would only be temporary.  Within six months to a year, the Gog and Magog War (Ezekiel 38 & 39) will take place while Israel is living in "peace and safety" (Ezekiel 38:11 & 12).  But as they march on Israel God will destroy the invaders and literally shock the world.  This is likely when Israel will rebuild their temple and it will probably be within the first year and a half into the tribulation period.

I have no predictions for 2007, only that everyday that passes we come one day closer to the coming of the Lord.

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!
