If you haven't heard, China launched a ground-based medium-range ballistic missile to destroy a weather satellite a couple days ago.

This is a major development since no country has openly tested space weapons for more than 20 years.  Many around the world are protesting China's space weapons initiative including Japan and the US.  Most military experts believe that this test shows that they are farther along in space weapon technology than previously believed.

There are only three countries who have developed any sort of space weapon technology the US, Russia and China.  The fear is that this test could re-ignite a space weapons war.

China has increased its military budget by 10% every year since 1990, but most experts believe the amount is far greater.

We followers of Bible prophecy know that in the last days China will become a major player.  This is further explained in the book of Revelation where it says that the kings of the East will march across Asia with a standing army of 200 million and meet the antichrist in an attempt to defeat Israel at the Battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16:12).  Certainly, China has the population and the military means to be considered in this end-time scenario.

Here's another big story in Bible prophecy. In the article New rules for the Middle East game - E.U. taking over part of U.S. role the following was written:

"The current discussions about the future of American foreign policy in the Middle East touch directly upon Israel-U.S. relations. U.S. policymakers, however, have not yet given enough consideration to the unprecedented weight that the European Union increasingly exerts in the region. In the case of Israel as well as on other U.S. fronts, no durable progress is reachable without the agreement, not to say the active involvement, of the slowly uniting Europe.

A historic window of opportunity may be brought on by the development of the EU over the past decades, the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East to include a nuclear threat, and the volatility of the U.S. role in the region. In view of this, the United States should realize the strategic value of gradually integrating Israel into the European Union. Although a full membership is not in the cards at the moment, the EU becoming Israel's second closest strategic ally, alongside the U.S., is in everybody's best interests. Over the next decade or two, relations between the U.S., the EU and Israel should be progressively formulated anew.

Despite America's significant role in facilitating Israel's just struggle to survive, it has failed to ensure the county's lasting longevity and independence. Regardless of the Bush administration's intentions, Israel's strategic position has deteriorated on multiple fronts."

This is exactly what the prophecy experts have been saying would happen for many years...the EU taking a stronger role while the US exits into the Middle East background.  The final EU peace offering  may not include full membership into the European Union but they will eventually facilitate a seven-year peace treaty with many that will include Israel.  Certainly, this is Bible prophecy unfolding before our eyes.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said today that Egypt has presented a Middle East peace plan to US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during her most recent visit to the region.  The proposal was created in cooperation with several other Arab nations.  Later next month, an Egyptian delegation will be in Washington to discuss the plan.

As I've said in previous articles, war and peace are in the air.  On the one hand, nations are frantically trying to solve the Israel problem which has now in these last days become an international problem.  On the other hand, we have the US who look to be on the cusp of attacking Iran's nuclear facilities with North Korea in the wings.  Some military experts are now saying that this precision attack may turn into a full-scale war.  This may explain why President Bush's new Iraq plan calls for additional troops to be sent to the region.  Of course, that's only speculation.

At the same time, an Iranian delegation is in North Korea to make good on its investment in missile technology.  Evidently, Iran has been bankrolling North Korea's nuclear warhead and missile research and wants in on the findings for its own program.  So much for their peaceful nuclear program.
