Tomorrow, US leaders will vote on
whether they will continue their fight against terrorism or cut and run as Spain
and others did when the terrorists struck their land.
It's a shame that they can't (or refuse to) see that the ideology of these violent religious terrorists does not promote peace but war and eventually world domination.
Of course, many believe that the vast majority of Muslims are peace loving people who do not support the policies and beliefs of the few terrorists who commit these criminal acts. They to want these killers caught and incarcerated as much as the next guy.
Certainly, that may be true to some extent, and I won't debate that, but you may want to ask yourself this question, "If that's true, why haven't we caught Osama bin Laden or the vast majority of his other henchmen?" With the huge rewards available for the capture of these men you would think that at least a few of these peace loving Muslims would come forward with information that would lead to their capture. After all, this crime (9/11) against the US was committed without the blessing of their holiest religious leaders. Oh, by the way, you should know that the next attack against the US has already received the appropriate blessings from the necessary religious leaders.
But getting back to the topic at hand...it sure didn't take long to capture Saddam Hussein, his family (sons), and many of his hierarchy. But again, they didn't see Saddam or his terrorist agents as religious figures fighting a holy war against the infiltration of western satanic values upon the Islamic world. He had the misfortune of world opinion which viewed him as a cold ruthless killer who forced his will upon the Iraqi people with fear and trembling. They were in essence prisoners and slaves of their own country. But don't get me wrong, he got what he deserved and not a minute to soon.
With that said, however the vote comes out, it will be the will of God and will advance his prophetic purpose. I see little to no chance of President Bush's Iraqi proposal going forward, and even if it does, it's still not enough. When I say it's still not enough, I mean our thinking will have to change dramatically before this situation gets under control (in the end it will).
What we must understand is Iraq is a conquered land. We need to think and act upon this country as such. We're way to concerned about bringing democracy to a country that really doesn't understand or want to be a democratic society. It will be a continual uphill battle to make any democratic change stick for the long haul.
Next problem...the two leading religious sects (Shi'ites and Sunnis) are at war with each other and will never come to an agreement. They have been mortal enemies for hundreds of years and the American dream won't change that. Next stop...civil war! But I have to give this to them, they understand the art of war and know that all offenders must be brought into submission no matter how many innocent civilians must die. You can bet they will continue to hide behind innocent civilians as human shields, send suicide bombers into busy marketplaces, and wage war and take sniper shots at coalition forces from civilian locations.
For the sake of their so-called holy war they will do whatever it takes no matter how many innocent lives must pay. They understand the price of winning a war, that it is just, and most of all, if they die, they will immediately be ushered into heaven to enjoy a harem full of virgins complemented with a life of gluttonous living for an eternity. Compared to what they have now that's a pretty good payday.
This is their mindset and that will never change until they are completely subdued and conquered or they conquer us. The sad truth is, the latter is more likely and they know it. The civilized world just doesn't have the fortitude necessary to carry on such a war. To the terrorists this war isn't measured in lost human lives, but in time and US public opinion. It's not about winning (never has been) but attrition. They know that the longer this war drags on the better.
One of US President Bush's reasons for continuing the fight in Iraq against terrorism is that he believes, if we give up and go home, the terrorists will follow. He's right and there's no question in my mind that terrorism will likely play a major role in the start of the next world war sometime during the first half the tribulation period (Revelation 6:1-8).
Again, don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of this war, but I have learned a thing or two about the strategies and tactics of terrorism over the years. If you think when we leave they're just going to fold up their tents and head back to the unemployment line you're living in a dream world. Most of these men (terrorist) don't know anything else and have no other place to go. They believe their fight is just and are more than willing to die for it...and by and large expect to. They have the respect of their peers and the blessing of their families.
But the most revealing truth of their fight is that they know it's not over until the world has been converted to Islam commencing with the ushering in of their messiah the Mahdi or 12th Imam.
No, when we leave, their fight against the great satan and those who hold western values will continue. This wars end will only free them up to take on the myriad of other well funded opportunities that terrorist nations such as Syria and Iran are more than happy to support...and not just against Israel.
Look for the US presence in Iraq to be vastly diminished by the end of 2008 and virtually nonexistent sometime after a Democratic president and House takes power in 2009.
In the end, history will prove that in time, the war on terrorism could have been confined to the Middle East and eventually won but not without a cost. But soon, America and the world will take on a certain uncertain future that will be dictated by the whims of men who do not value human life.
Sadly, we will have to travel this road once again. One has to wonder how many 9/11's could have been avoided if we would have only stayed the course and defeated terrorism once and for all.
