report: Syrian troops amassing along Israeli border

Iran has defied the UN's February 21st mandate that they halt all uranium enrichment activity. Even with the threat of further sanctions hanging over their heads, there doesn't seem to be any sign of them giving in.

Unless something miraculous happens look for a showdown between the US/Israel and Iran/Syria. I wouldn't rule out Russia playing a major role in this possible scenario either.

A new poll by a German foundation has found that 75% of Israelis want Israel to join the EU. Certainly, that wouldn't shock me if it happened. Membership in the EU could very well turn out to be part of the agreement the antichrist makes with Israel for seven years. It is the protection, world validity, and respect of the European Union that Israelis long for. It would also help alleviate a host of other problems as well. Will the Antichrist rise up soon and promise them this security?

The Quartet has come out and demanded that the new Palestinian Authority government recognize Israel. Along with their condemnation of the PA, they also stated that they would meet on a regular basis in an attempt to get the Middle East peace process heading in the right direction again.

I don't see the Palestinian Authority government recognizing Israel until the Antichrist comes on the scene. In fact, I see war long before I see peace coming to the Middle East...at least that's the way it appears.

If you haven't heard, reports are coming in that Syria is amassing troops toward the Israeli border. It's also being reported that they're boosting their war chest at an unprecedented rate snatching up huge amounts of Russian-made advanced anti-tank missiles, surface-based missiles and long-range rockets.

With wars and rumors of wars abounding in the Middle East, could this be a sign of our Lord's coming?

This situation of amassing troops along the Israeli border is reminiscent of Ezekiel's prophecy found in Ezekiel 38:13 which says, "Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?"

It's believed that when Israel's enemies attack they will first amass along the Israeli border as they are at this time. Right now, Hizbullah, Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, and a host of other nations we don't even know about may be gathering. According to data from the 1973 Arab-Israeli Yom Kippur War Syria was making similar movements prior to the war. Reports indicate they are well armed and ready for battle. Can Russia be far behind?

In that day, world leaders (including the US) will watch and object as Israel's enemies amass troops along their borders but will do nothing to prevent it. They (Israel) will be left to their mercy, but in the end, God will rescue them with a great deliverance. His purpose in all this, "[so] that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes (Ezekiel 38:16b)."

Could this be the beginning of what may turn out to be the Gog and Magog War? Or will the antichrist come on the scene and bring peace in the midst of the storm?

Either way, this war is coming, and when it does, it will shock the world!
