US sets 8-month timetable for israeli-palestinian peace moves

The Iraqi parliament is on the verge of receiving and voting on a landmark oil law that will determine an equitable distribution of Iraq's oil wealth. This is a vital law because many believe it will help ease sectarian violence that has brought the country to the brink of civil war.

Contrary to what many believe here in America and abroad, this law and the distribution of oil contracts to non-US companies proves that the US has no intention of profiting (from oil) from their attack on Iraq. If one still believes this is the case, as a good investor who recognizes a good investment, I would immediately invest every dollar I had in US oil companies. With that not happening, I have to assume that most people who believe this falsehood are venting due to a lack of correct information. That's my stock tip for today.

After a decade as prime minister of the UK, Tony Blair has declared that he will step down in the coming weeks. Most political insiders project he will endorse Gordon Brown as his likely successor.

Certainly Tony Blair has accomplished much in his decade of power but he will be most remembered for getting the UK involved in the Iraqi war. Throughout his reign, many Bible believing prophecy experts, including myself, have suggested that he could be a possible candidate to be the future antichrist. Although he is resigning, this certainly does not take him off the list. Tony Blair, like former US president Bill Clinton, will still possess a considerable amount of political power. It will be interesting to see what direction he heads in next.

Iran says, given the current strained conditions, now would not be a good time for them to sit down with US representatives.

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki who will attend a conference on Iraq's security this week said, "For the moment the conditions do not exist for such a dialogue."

"The United States cannot have this hostile attitude and say on the other hand that they are favourable to negotiations," he told the ISNA news agency. http://www.middle-east-online.com/english/?id=20551

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will also attend the conference.

Iran's refusal to meet with US representatives does not surprise me. I believe that tensions between Iran and the US will remain until one of two things happen. 1) The US attacks Iran and destroys their nuclear capabilities or 2) The antichrist comes on the scene and brings a temporary peace. Even if peace comes about don't look for Iran to be buddying up to the US anytime in the near future.

It's probably not likely that Iran will attack Israel until some semblance of peace is established in the Middle East (with Israel) as prophesied in Ezekiel 38:4-14.

A recent US report entitled "Country Reports on Terrorism, 2006," claims that terrorism rose more than 25% worldwide in 2006. Not surprising, most terrorist incidents occurred in the Middle East region.

"By far the largest number of reported terrorist incidents occurred in the Near East and South Asia," the report, citing regions that include Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq, said. "These two regions also were the locations for 90 percent of all the 290 high-casualty attacks that killed 10 or more people." http://www.menewsline.com/stories/2007/may/02_05_1.html

In other terrorist related news, former CIA Director George J. Tenet said in his new book, "At the Center of the Storm", that Russian President Vladimir Putin told US President Bush that his government could not account for nuclear devices and weapons prior to his watch. The book states Putin made this claim shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Of course, Russian officials deny that any weapons are unaccounted for, but Alexander Lebed, a former Russian national security adviser, claimed that in 1997 the government could not account for about 80 portable nuclear weapons. It's also believed that Russian scientists were helping Al Qaida develop a nuclear program following the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s. What progress they have made since then is not fully known.

US President Bush has unveiled an eight month timetable for Palestinian and Israeli leaders to meet certain goals toward peace. The timeline was created for the purpose of setting dates for when certain elements of Middle East peace should be achieved. One of the example steps given would at some point grant Palestinians safe passage across Israel between Gaza and the West Bank by bus or truck.

Personally, for Israel to allow Palestinians to travel through Israel between Gaza and the West Bank would be a national security nightmare. I don't see that happening until the antichrist comes on the scene and maybe not even then.

Can this timetable work or is it just another disastrous attempt to bring peace to a region that will ultimately solve its problems through war?
