Olmert invites Arab leaders to peace talks without preconditions

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert as taken a page out of Bible prophecy by taking a major step forward in peace negotiations with the Arab world. On Tuesday, he told reporters that he was ready to sit down with Arab leaders can't talk about the Saudi peace plan without preconditions. "We are ready to come and to invite" Arab leaders "without preconditions from our side or theirs, said Olmert who was in Petra for talks with Jordan's King Abdullah II.

"We heard about the Arab peace initiative and we say come and present it to us. You want to talk to us about it, we are ready to sit down and talk about it carefully," he told the conference in the ancient city.

Describing the plan as "very interesting," Olmert said, "we are ready to cooperate to find the appropriate manner to implement it. Certainly, this could all be nothing more than a political move to put the ball back in the Arab leaders court, but I do see a sense of urgency from Prime Minister Olmert. His political life could be on the line and this may be his last chance to change the direction that could likely end his career. Is this a case of desperate times call for desperate measures?

At the same time, Hamas is raining down rockets at Sderot and nearby Israeli towns. Israel is in the middle of a major military exercise and there is fear that they may attack Gaza in retaliation. But the US has assured the P.A. that Israel will not attack the Gaza Strip.

It amazes me, in the name of peace, what Israel is forced to do that no other country in the world would even think of complying with. This is a critical show of weakness by Israeli Prime Minister Olmert that leads me to believe that the US is behind his sudden interest in the Saudi peace plan with no preconditions. If signed as is, it would be suicide for Israel. But my hunch is that this is of the Lord and will prove to bring glory to His name in the very near future. Political leaders may make decisions but its ultimate course is determined by the Lord.

Iranian President Ahmadinejad said today speaking to a group of people during his trip to the UAE that the US plan for the Middle East has failed. "They know that their plans have failed in Iraq, their vision is wrong. He also took the time to present a strong warning against any attack on Iran by the US. Even though the US has agreed to meet with Iran to talk about Iraq, the sudden advances made by Iran in their nuclear program leads me to believe that either Israel or the US will have to confront them very soon.
