Hamas captures second Fatah command Post; EU said they would consider military presence if asked

Hamas has taken its second Fatah command post and eyewitnesses are saying that they are dragging Fatah members out and executing them one by one. Bloodshed has now carried over to the Fatah dominated West Bank where they are preparing to take the battle to Hamas before it gets to their territory.

US officials are saying that they were taken off guard and in complete shock at the recent developments. "There is shock and awe," an official said. "It's a major blow to the administration's policy." http://www.menewsline.com/stories/2007/june/06_15_2.html

In an attempt to save Fatah the US tried to urge Egyptian President Mubarak to send troops but he refused.

Yesterday, I reported that EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana said that the EU would be willing to consider a military role in the Middle East if asked. He said this in response to Israeli Prime Minister Olmert's suggestion that a peacekeeping force be deployed along the Gaza-Egyptian border. They (EU) already have police officers monitoring the border.

What does all this mean in Bible prophecy? First and foremost, it reminds us that things can change quickly and without warning. This is just a reminder that the Lord is in control and even though we think things are going in a certain direction that can change fast.

But here is an interesting possibility. This has opened up the door for the EU to come in with a military presence which could possibly lead to some sort of treaty between the parties involved...Egypt, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority. As many of you know, the European Union is slated by many prophecy experts to be the Future kingdom of the antichrist.

Certainly, there would have to be a peace agreement for it to work and I would assume a time limit in which EU forces would be allowed to stay in the area. I have to believe this proposed military would be more than just the traditional symbolic (UN) peacekeeping unit. If it's to work they would have to have full military privileges that would include enforcing all resolutions with deadly force if necessary.

During this time of peace, I would suspect this to be the time Russia and their Islamic allies would attack Israel. The EU army would be in place but would be no match for an army as large the Russian-Arab Alliance. Although, the EU will call for reinforcements, God will intervene and destroy the armies of the invaders in the mountains of Israel before anyone can come to their aid.

After this stunning victory Israel and the EU will become trusted partners and valuable allies. Israel may even allow them to build a permanent military base within their borders.

Of course, this is all speculation but it does make one think of the direction and possibilities that could come from this latest conflict.
