Question

Dear Pastor Malone:

I have enjoyed reading your website. I do have a question. When do you think Jesus will rapture the church?

Thank you.

Answer

Dear Ms:

Thanks for your question and for visiting our site. In answering your question I am going to include a shocking and disturbing prediction. Regarding II Thessalonians 2:3, we are most definitely in the middle of the great falling away. The Lord is no longer our personal Savior but has been reduced to an inpersonal higher power that simply exists in the outer reaches of our minds.

I don't know about the UK but in the U.S., if Jesus Himself came and announced His coming, most would pay admission to see if it would happen, but none would repent. This country is caught in the love of money rather than pleasing or serving God. Many so-called Christian's share that same lifestyle. When Jesus said in Matthew 24:37, as in the days of Noah so shall it be at the coming of the Son of Man, He was right. Noah warned and preached for 120 years that God would destroy the world with a flood but they would not listen. I would have thought about 119 years into the prediction that someone would have joined Noah just before the floods came. At least they would have been saved from the flood. If it didn't rain the worst that would have happened is they would have been laughed at. But not one person repented.

I believe that Jesus could come the year 2000, but again He could come today or 5 years from now. But if you are looking for my opinion on a certain year that's my choice. I have heard many say that He can't because that's when the world expects Him to come and it wouldn't be as a thief in the night and when we think not. Just like in the days of Noah, this generation is caught up in satisfying their own lusts, planning parties for the new millenium and celebrating. The coming of Jesus is the farthest thing from their minds. Some may think about it, but when the clock strikes 12 midnite 2000, all thoughts of Christ's return will be forgotten. The flood didn't come at midnite 120 years later but it did happen during the 120th year.

Many would say that is too obvious. To Christian's it should be! In I Thessalonians 5:2-6 it states that Jesus will come as a thief in the night, but we as Christian's are not to be in darkness regarding this event. We may not know the day or hour but we should know the days we are living in. I believe that the Lord will save whom He will save between now and the rapture, but the rest will be fooled into believing a lie, and will continue to believe it right into the depths of the tribulation period. They will be unable to resist the lies of satan. Yes, I do believe that many will be saved before Jesus comes, but it won't be due to fear of the coming wrath of God. Only God's mercy will be able to unlock the grip satan has on a man's soul.

Let me summarize. I believe that Jesus could come on one of the days of the year 2000. After the coming and going of New Year's day 2000 the hype will be over and life will go on much like in the days of Noah. At this point the world could care less any way (99.9% of the world will care less December 31st 1999). Like I said, if Jesus Himself announced His coming someone would make it a pay per view event and many would watch, but no one would repent.

Why do I come to this conclusion? As I have watched the year 2000 draw closer, I expected to see a worldwide revival breakout. I expected to see many people turning from their sinful life (at least until after the year 2000). Instead I see a world becoming more evil, television becoming more sexual and vulger, and sin abounding on every corner of the world. I expected people to be scared. If I weren't saved I would be. The world is aware that the church believes that Christ will come around the year 2000, but as in the days of Noah, have not changed, but have become worse.

I haven't always held this view and I could be wrong of course (I truly believe it will be before the year 2005). But as we draw closer to the new millenium, I am amazed at the sheer indifference to what awaits those who do not know the Lord. May God have mercy on them before it's to late.
