US Tells Israel To Apologize To Turkey Or UN Recognition Of PA Could Become A Reality!

Israel's largest daily newspaper, Yediot Ahronot, reported on Wednesday that the Obama Administration is threatening Israel to either apologize to Turkey over its bloody interception of a Gaza aid flotilla last year, or risk strained ties with Washington.

Israeli diplomats in Washington told the newspaper that they had received a communique from US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton insisting that the rift between Israel and Turkey was harming American interests in the region, such as affecting regime change in neighboring Syria.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan demands that Israel publicly apologize for intercepting a May 2010 "humanitarian aid" flotilla that tried to break Israel's maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip. The flotilla had set sail from Turkey, and nine Turkish nationals were killed when they and others aboard the largest ship, the Mavi Marmara, attacked the Israeli boarding party.

Erdogan called the operation an act of piracy. And even though Washington and other Western powers agree with Israel that the Gaza blockade is legal and legitimate, the Obama Administration has decided that it is more politically expedient to simply have Israel meet Erdogan's unreasonable demands (as if that won't have any long-term negative consequences).

A year ago, Obama actually pressured Erdogan to either make up with Israel, or risk his ability to purchase American weapons. But, like other Middle East powers embroiled in conflict with Israel, Erdogan had learned that Western threats are fleeting and toothless. Obama never followed through on that ultimatum, and all Erdogan had to do was wait one year for Washington to decide to start pressuring Israel, instead.

What's worse, the Obama Administration's pressure on Israel - the party it agrees is in the right - has also reportedly come in the form of a threat.

According to the Israeli diplomats cited in the Yediot report, they were told that if Israel does not comply with Clinton's request to apologize to Turkey, the White House may suddenly find itself unable to continue building opposition to a unilateral Palestinian declaration of statehood at the UN next month (Israel Today).

In related news, high-ranking members of the Israeli defense establishment have recommended that Israel offer the Palestinian Authority a series of goodwill and economic gestures in an effort to convince President Mahmoud Abbas to back down from plans to unilaterally declare statehood at the United Nations next month.

Under consideration is the removal of roadblocks, the possible release of Fatah prisoners from Israeli prisons, an increase in the number of Palestinian workers allowed daily into Israel, and special permits to allow Israelis to enter Palestinian cities in Area A – territory that is off limits to Israelis under the Oslo Accords.

Defense officials said that the idea behind the goodwill and economic gestures was to demonstrate for the Palestinians what they could potentially lose if they go ahead with plans to unilaterally declare statehood at the UN General Assembly on September 20, as they announced they would over the weekend.

Ministers who oppose the move, such as Steinitz, have supported imposing sanctions on the PA if it unilaterally declares statehood.

One proposal has been to withhold custom payments that Israel collects on its behalf if the PA declares statehood.

Another proposal has been to make similar unilateral moves such as annexing settlements blocs to Israel.

Barak has warned against imposing sanctions on the PA, which he fears could lead to the collapse of the PA and push Abbas to dissolve it.

“The possibility that the PA would be dissolved could mean that Israel would be in charge of every aspect of life of the Palestinian people in the West Bank, and this is not something that it currently wants,” a defense official said.

As Israel works to formulate its diplomatic policy, the IDF is continuing to train military units in crowd-control techniques ahead of massive protests that are expected to break out along Israel’s borders.

Israel is particularly concerned with its northern border with Syria, where it fears that Syrian soldiers will also participate in the protests, and possibly engage IDF troops deployed to stop a border infiltration (jpost.com).

I don't believe the Bible supports a unilateral move in the peace process, if this is indeed the peace accord, the future Antichrist will confirm. Frankly, I don't see this peace process being solved until after the rapture occurs. That will be when the Antichrist (or man of sin) will be revealed. Many are trying to align the planets or time certain Jewish holidays or reconcile mysterious events (dead birds, dead fish, etc.) with the rapture of the church, but the truth of the matter is, Christians will continue to tarry on the earth until God has completed His work. The rapture won't take place because of some great mystery or holiday or event. It will happen because His work is completed both in heaven and on earth. You must remember, the rapture has always been an eminent event...meaning, absolutely no signs were necessary for it to have taken place at any time during the church age. That's not to say we shouldn't take the sign of the rebirth of Israel, the regaining of Jerusalem, the end times peace process between Israel and the Islamic world, and many other signs as benchmarks for a soon return of the Lord. They are definite signs of Jesus' Second Coming. And before that can take place, there must be a rapture.

With all that said, it's difficult to determine what the direction will be in the next few months.  Here are some of the options:

1.  Israel stands strong against the US and refuses to apologize to Turkey.   The US decides not to veto UN recognition of a Palestinian state.

2.  Israel gives into US pressure and apologizes to Turkey.  Because they did not stand strong against a weak US president, they are now the path of least resistance in the region.  When the Middle East peace pact does come it will be confirmed with little concern toward Israel's needs.

3.  The Israeli apology to Turkey becomes a non-factor, and the US ends up vetoing the proposed UN recognition of a Palestinian state. Rioting on Israel's borders breaks out leaving many Islamic casualties. Some believe this will lead to the outbreak of the Psalms 83 War. Either way, it could be followed by a powerful world leader stepping forward to confirm a peace accord....not only in Israel but throughout the rest of the Middle East as well (Daniel 9:27). The only question is, how far away are we from this happening?

4.  The Turkey apology becomes a non-factor either way. The UN recognition of a Palestinian state is approved against the wishes of the US. Some rioting does break out on Israel's borders, but is subdued by the Israeli military and fizzles out within a month's time. As in the past, Palestinian statehood never gains any traction beyond a UN symbolic gesture. The Middle East remains to be potentially explosive and unsolvable, until the Antichrist arrives on the scene following the rapture of the church.

One thing seems certain, the last thing Israel wants is for the Palestinian Authority to dissolve and become Israel's problem by default. By dissolving, the Palestinian Authority would be annexed as part of Israel. Israel would eventually face pressure from the UN, EU and the US to allow Palestinians the same rights as other Arab Israelis. That would ultimately spell the end of Israel as a Jewish state.

In other developments, the European Space Agency is planning to launch a mission similar to the plot of Hollywood movie Armageddon, in which Bruce Willis and his intrepid team attempt to blow up a huge asteroid that’s hurtling towards Earth.

The real version, if it goes ahead in 2015, will see a satellite fired at break-neck speed into a ‘test’ asteroid to see if its course changes.

The aim is to assess whether it would be possible to save Earth using this method, should we discover that an asteroid is on a collision course with our planet (Daily Mail).

I can save them a lot of time and money by pointing them to the Bible which plainly declares it won't work. During the tribulation period, at the sounding of the second trumpet (Revelation 8:8-9), a great fiery mountain (asteroid) will be cast into the sea (ocean). Upon impact, the Bible says that a "third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed."

The fact that a major government organization such as the European Space Agency is undertaking this earth saving project proves what the Bible predicted almost 2,000 years ago is a completely valid scenario in these last days.  Simply put, it's no longer just science fiction.

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!
