Netanyahu trying to reach deal on settlements with U.S.; Bible's 'Ark of the Covenant' about to be unveiled?; Ethiopian patriarch tells pope he will show artifact to world
The headline above, Is Israel Negotiating with US or with PA, is a forgone conclusion. Frankly, there has never been any doubt that Israel must first please the US. As far as Middle East peace is concerned, US President Obama is calling the shots and Israel will have to comply. Seems to me, whatever the Islamic world wants he is willing to deliver to them. It will be interesting to see how far Mr. Obama is willing to go to get Israel to comply with his wishes. The PA is in a very good position in that they now have the most powerful leader in the world in their corner.
But just as a Palestinian state could become a reality in the near future, rumors are surfacing that Hamas could be planning a swift takeover of the West Bank just as they did in Gaza back in 2007. "One local official affiliated with the ruling Fatah faction said a large Hamas weapons cache had recently been discovered in Kalkilya, raising fears that yet another civil war was on the horizon." Israel Today Strangely enough, if an Hamas takeover were successful, that would be good news for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a major setback for President Obama. US policy still considers Hamas a terrorist organization and has to this point refused to include them in ME peace negotiations, but that could change quickly. It would not be surprising if Obama forced Israel to negotiate with Hamas.
A top Bush advisor has said that Israeli and US negotiators did have an agreement in place that allowed for West Bank settlements to have natural growth. According to Elliot Abrams, former US deputy national security advisor, these were long standing agreements that emerged during the Sharon administration.
He writes: "On settlements we also agreed on principles that would permit some continuing growth. Mr. Sharon stated these clearly in a major policy speech in December 2003: "Israel will meet all its obligations with regard to construction in the settlements. There will be no construction beyond the existing construction line, no expropriation of land for construction, no special economic incentives and no construction of new settlements."
"Ariel Sharon did not invent those four principles. They emerged from discussions with American officials and were discussed by Messrs. Sharon and Bush at their Aqaba meeting in June 2003. They were not secret, either. Four days after the president's letter, Mr. Sharon's Chief of Staff Dov Weissglas wrote to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (to confirm the understandings)." A shocking revelation has been made by the patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia, that on Friday, he will be unveiling the long lost Biblical Ark of the Covenant. Abuna Pauolos, who is in Italy visiting the Pope, said that he will make the announcement tomorrow at 2 PM Italian time.
"The Ark of the Covenant is in Ethiopia for many centuries," said Pauolos. "As a patriarch I have seen it with my own eyes and only few highly qualified persons could do the same, until now."
According to Pauolos, the actual Ark has been kept in one church, but to defend the treasure, a copy was placed in every single church in Ethiopia.
He said a museum is being built in Axum, Ethiopia, where the Ark will be displayed. A foundation of D'Acosta will fund the project. WND
Tradition has it that one of the locations where the long lost Ark could be being hid is in Ethiopia. Whether this report is true or not will have to be left up to the experts in the coming days, if in fact, the Ark is revealed. Others, who have said they have physically seen the Ark, say it is being hid in one of the many compartments under the Temple Mount. Although, under Arab control, rumor has it that Arab officials are terrified to even go near it. Personally, this is where I believe the true Ark really is located.
I do believe that the Ark will be revealed someday, but not until after the defeat of the Russian-Islamic Alliance at the Battle of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38 & 39). After this shocking defeat, the Bible says that not only Israel, but the whole world, will give glory to God (Ezekiel 38:23). It is my belief that this victory will start the beginning stages of a partial national revival in Israel leading them to reclaim the temple mount and rebuild their temple. At this time, I believe the Ark of the Covenant will be brought out of hiding...and if the Mosque Of Omar is still standing, they will tear it down without resistance. But when the Lord comes to reign for 1,000 years, the Ark will be forgotten (Jeremiah 3:16).
