Peace Process at “Five to Midnight” Warns UN Envoy
For the first time, Russia and Iran will hold a joint naval maneuver in the Caspian Sea, The Iranian Mehr News Agency reported Wednesday.
According to the report, the maneuver will include 30 Russian and Iranian ships, as well as helicopters.
A senior official in the Iranian ports authority was quoted by the report as saying that the maneuver would increase the coordination between the two countries, and focus on search and rescue operations and the prevention of pollution. Jpost.com
Today, most in the international community do not see Russian-Iranian war maneuvers as strange. Certainly, 20 years ago, this would have been unthinkable. The truth is, until recent history, Russia and Iran have never had a working relationship...much less co-participation in naval war maneuvers. Of course, as Christians, we know this is nothing more than a page out of Bible prophecy that will one day soon culminate into the Biblical Battle of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38 & 39).

Although no agreement was announced regarding the US demand for a settlement freeze, Israeli officials said the sides were "getting close" to "finding that common ground to enable progress." Jpost.com
Yesterday, it was reported by the Jerusalem Post, that Israel and the US were very close to an agreement on settlements. In fact, US Middle East envoy George Mitchell, said that he believes he may be able to extract some sort of gesture of normalization from the Arab nations within a month. But Saudi Arabian officials want to see positive steps toward a settlement freeze before they will commit to normalization.
"It is Israel that has to move seriously towards the peace process," Saudi foreign ministry spokesman Osama Nugali said.
"As we all know, Israel is continuing to take unilateral measures by changing the geographic and demographic facts on the ground, by building settlements and expanding the existing ones," he told AFP.
But Mr. Mitchell stated in reply, when Israel agrees to a freeze, the agreement details will be shared with the Arab world. They in turn will have to show gestures toward normalization before the freeze agreement goes forward. So far, getting the Arab world to commit to gestures toward Israel has proven to be a huge challenge for Mitchell and is said to be the reason behind the freeze delay.
US Middle East envoy Mitchell says that the peace process will commence within a year and half. Meaning, his target date to start the peace timeline will be within 1.5 years. Between now and then, his job will be to put all matters of discrepancy to rest and set a timeline for lasting peace that will conclude with the separation of Jerusalem.
Here's something to think about regarding the timing of the revealing of the Antichrist. The Bible says that he will not come on the scene until after a "falling away" comes first (II Thessalonians 2:3). I believe this falling away will be the rapture of the church. Once the rapture takes place, I believe a period of time will pass before the Antichrist will be revealed. Just as there will be a time span between the end of the tribulation period and the start of the millennium (75 days; Daniel 12:11 & 12), I believe there will also be time between the rapture and the revealing of the antichrist. How much time I do not know.
