'Iran waiting for Khamenei go-ahead to build atom bomb'; Iran has mastered necessary technology, needs 1 year to assemble nuclear weapon

In deep hush, joint teams of the Israeli Defense forces, the Lebanese army and the UN Interim Peace Force - UNIFIL - with the quiet approval of the Lebanese Shiite Hizballah - began marking out the Blue Line dividing the two countries at the end of last week, DEBKAfile reveals. Friday, July 31, as soon as Tehran picked up on the project, it called for Arab volunteers to rally "in defense of the Lebanese border."

If completed, the agreed border will encompass three longstanding flashpoints: the divided Ghajar Village, the Shaaba Farms and the sources of Israel's water supply.

This is the first time Hizballah has cooperated in any attempt to mark out on the ground the 78.8 kilometer-long international border along the Blue Line existing hitherto only on UN maps laid out by the UN Security Council in 2000, when Israel pulled back from South Lebanon.

Washington and Jerusalem take Hizballah's assent as signifying that the pro-Iranian terror group has come around to supporting peace diplomacy - albeit through Damascus. But, according to DEBKAfile's military and intelligence sources, Hizballah takes the fact that the Lebanese and Israeli governments and the UN had to come asking for its permission as their de facto acceptance of its political and military domination of southern Lebanon.

The Israeli and Lebanese teams are working separately, each on its own side of the border, followed and coordinated by the UN peacemakers who hold the maps.

Israel expects the agreed marking out of the international border to once and for all refute Hizballah's claims of its military encroachments into Lebanon which it uses to justify its own incursions and adherence to "armed resistance" against Israel.  Debkafile

Iran possesses the capability to build a nuclear weapon within one year as it has mastered the necessary technology, the Times of London reported on Monday. All that separates Tehran from arming itself with an atomic bomb is final approval from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Should it so desire, Iran could produce a nuclear weapon within one year, in which it would need six months to produce enough enriched uranium and another six months to build a warhead, the Times of London said.

In his meeting with Israeli officials, U.S. National Security Advisor James Jones indicated that Tehran has until the UN General Assembly in the last week of September to respond.

A senior source in Jerusalem said the American message to Israel in these talks was to "lower its profile" and refrain from "ranting and raving" about Iran in public until the international evaluation on Iran takes place at the end of September. "Until that date, we must give diplomacy a chance," the official said.  Haaretz.com

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has talked stern with the international community, but in secret looks to work along side of them in agreeing to halt construction in East Jerusalem and secretly redraw borders with Lebanon.  Is this a sign that the Israeli leader believes peace is inevitable?

In other news...Arab leaders are sticking to their hard nose approach toward Israel and have now decided that peace will only come if Israel accepts the Saudi peace proposal in its entirety.  Personally, I don't see that happening.  US President Obama doesn't either and is taking a new PR approach that will attempt to convince the world that both sides are equally being pressured to show gestures toward peace.

Here's a somewhat shocking story coming out of The Times of London.  They're reporting that Iran has had the technological know-how to create a nuclear weapon since 2003 and are only waiting for their supreme leader to give the go ahead for assembly.

Israel is being told by the US administration to keep silent on Iran until the end of September when the diplomatic option ends.  Whether Israel will be able to attack Iran or will even consider the option after the deadline varies depending on which military expert analyst you listen to.  Certainly, Israel has gone through all the steps to lead Iran to believe they will attack, but whether they will go through with it is debatable.  Frankly, I do not believe the Bible supports a Middle East attack of this magnitude happening before the rapture of the church.  But as we have experienced, anything can happen.
