Barack Obama is close to revealing plan for Middle East peace; Israeli Defense Minister Barak: “I believe that Israel must take the lead in accepting the plan.”

East Jerusalem is by far the stickiest of sticking points in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu has made it clear that while he might make concessions in the West Bank in exchange for peace, East Jerusalem – which he and many Israelis consider the “eternal and undivided capital of Jerusalem” – is off the table.  Christian Science Monitor

I brought you the above excerpt as another example of Bible prophecy being fulfilled.  Zechariah 12:2-3 states, that in the last days, after Israel once again is reborn and reclaims Jerusalem, the old city would be a major sticking point to the world and there attempt at bringing peace.  The Christian Science Monitor, who simply is no friend of Israel's, is considered a major religious magazine.  But don't look for a Biblical point of view towards Christianity or Israel to be found within the pages of this magazine...you won't find it, but they do represent an internationally respected point-of-view on global news.  Meaning...even the world views Jerusalem as an international stumbling block in these last days.

In other news regarding the soon to be revealed Obama Administration Middle East peace plan...

The Obama Administration is close to presenting its plan for peace in the Middle East to Israel and the Palestinians, senior officials said yesterday.

Ehud Barak, the Israeli Defence Minister, said that the long-awaited plan would be disclosed to the parties within weeks and recommended that Israel take the initiative and accept the proposals from its most important ally, with whom it has endured strained ties recently.

“In the coming weeks, their plan will be formulated and presented to the parties,” Mr Barak told the parliamentary foreign and defence committee. “I believe that Israel must take the lead in accepting the plan.”  Timesonline

The Obama Administration is also planning a George Bush style Middle East peace conference slated for November of this year in Madrid.  Here are some of the particulars of this event:

1. It will be attended by leading Arab nations, such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Syria, as well as major powers from outside the region, e.g. Russia, China, India and Europe.

2. The first business on the agenda will be Israeli peace accords with the Palestinians, Syria and Lebanon as sketched out by US Middle East envoy George Mitchell in his last briefings to Israeli, Palestinian and Syrian leaders last week.

3. Separate panels will deal with two central issues: the disarmament of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons in the region including Israel, and the distribution of its water resources.

4. The conference will take place alongside prospective US-Iranian negotiations - if they take off in September.

5. Mitchell informed Israeli and Syrian leaders that the plan had won British, French and German approval.  Debkafile

Debkafile is also reporting that US President Obama told Syrian President Assad that he (Obama) would personally oversee the Middle East peace talks, thus cutting Turkey out of the loop.

At this point, all the details of the peace plan still remain secret and many loose ends still need to be worked out.  But rumor has it that the plan will include Israeli neighbors such as Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates.  Timesonline

Is this the much anticipated prophesied peace accord that Israel will sign with the Antichrist (Daniel 9:27) or is it just another step in the decades old attempt to bring peace to the Middle East?  Certainly, many will scoff (II Peter 3:4) just before the rapture talks place, but when He comes, He will not tarry!
