Obama: Iran Building Secret Nuclear Plant; Now Brazil Wants a Nuclear Weapons Program

The U.S.-led "Quartet" driving Middle East peace talks gave a qualified approval to a Palestinian plan for statehood within two years.  JTA

Apparently, the Quartet (US, EU, UN & Russia) has given its approval to a Palestinian 2-year plan for statehood that Israel has rejected.  

This doesn't surprise me in the least.  The world community has been calling for the US to get tough with Israel, which could include sanctions, in order to get them to fall in line with Middle East peace.  Fortunately for Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu isn't having any of it, but I do see the day he will be forced to comply with the wishes of the US.

Speaking to the BBC's Hard Talk program, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that he went further than any other Israeli official has gone to achieve peace with the Palestinians and believes peace would have been achieved by now if his term were not cut short.  He claimed to have offered them the best deal they were ever going to get from an Israeli prime minister but they rejected the deal.

Olmert confirmed that he had offered the Palestinians land amounting to 100 percent of the West Bank - which would have been composed of 93 to 94% of West Bank land and the rest made up by territory from pre-1967 Israel - the return of more than a thousand Palestinian refugees to Israel's final borders, and the internationalization of Jerusalem under Israeli, Palestinian, American, Jordanian and Saudi Arabian administration.

He said that had the Palestinians accepted the offer, the international community would have immediately endorsed it, and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu would not have been elected.

"Had there been such a plan, the outcome of the elections would have been entirely different," Olmert said. "It would have allowed the plan to take place had it been accepted by the Palestinians. They made a dramatic mistake by not responding to me, at a time when it was still early enough to move it forward, build up the international consensus and move it through the public opinion of Israel and the also the public opinion of Palestinians and the international community." I have no doubt that the Lord intervened in this situation before Mr. Olmert could get this plan off the ground.  Eventually, a man will come forward and put together a plan that will bring peace to the region, but it will be within the Lord's timing.  The fact that he was willing to internationalize Jerusalem and place the Holy City under the control of Israeli, Palestinian, American, Jordanian and Saudi Arabian administration is astounding and could be quit prophetic.  According to Revelation 11:1-2, the gentile nations will control Jerusalem for forty-two months of the tribulation period.  "And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.  But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months."

Brazil's vice president says his country should develop nuclear weapons.

Jose Alencar says "a nuclear weapon has great importance" to prevent attacks on Brazil because of its extensive borders and maritime holdings. Alencar tells Brazilian newspapers that Brazil doesn't have a program to develop nuclear weapons, but should.  AP

U.S. President Barack Obama and other Western leaders accused Iran on Friday of building a secret nuclear fuel plant and demanded Tehran immediately halt what he called a "direct challenge" to the international community.

Obama went public with the charge in a joint appearance with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and French President Nicolas Sarkozy at a Group of 20 summit in Pittsburgh, sharpening a standoff with Iran over its disputed nuclear program.  Reuters

What we've all long suspected has finally been brought out into the open.  Iran has been using its multi-billion dollar Russian built nuclear facility for low grade uranium enrichment and likely transported it to its secret nuclear facility to further enrich the uranium into weapons grade material.  And still yet, nothing has or will be done other than the threat of sanctions.  Such a hollow threat certainly won't stop Iran from obtaining their goal of becoming a nuclear power.  Now, as expected, other countries are openly talking about joining the nuclear club even in the western hemisphere.  

As I said in the midst of the second Iraqi War...not only did we need to put an end to Iraq's supposed nuclear ambitions, we didn't go far enough.  On the heels of subduing Iraq, we needed to continue our campaign into Iran destroying every nuclear facility with round the clock aerial assaults.  After decimating their air defense and communications system, we should have marched to the very brink of Tehran, negotiate a surrender (as we did in the first Gulf War), and get out in (probably) less than a month.  That would have sent a strong message to Syria, North Korea, Brazil, or any other nation contemplating a hidden or open nuclear weapons program.  But we live in a world where naive public opinion rules and our enemies know it.  Is it any wonder that one-quarter of the world's population will perish during the tribulation period before the Seal Judgments are finished (Revelation 6)?
