US admiral concerned about China military buildup
A U.S. Navy admiral expressed new concern Friday over China's military buildup and urged Beijing to be clearer about its intentions.
With China's military growing at an "unprecedented rate," the U.S. wants to ensure that expansion doesn't destabilize the region, Rear Adm. Kevin Donegan told reporters on a visit to the Chinese territory of Hong Kong.
Donegan referred to China's expanded weaponry. His remarks echoed the concerns of other U.S. military leaders who have said the growth in China's military spending — up almost 15 percent in the 2009 budget — raises questions about how Beijing plans on deploying its new power. Yahoo.com
Although this recent surge in China's military growth concerns US military experts, it should come as no shock or concern to Christians. The Bible predicted long ago, that in the lasts days, a nation from the East would rise up with a great army (200 million soldiers) and march across Asia destroying one-third of mankind (Revelation 9:13-19; 16:12-16). There are only two nations in the world capable of assembling such a great army and both of them are in the East (China & India).
Certainly, critics could blow this off as a coincidence but it could only have happened in this generation...the same generation that has Israel reborn in its own land and in the middle of a peace process (both prophetic red flags). My question is, why are all of the prophecies being fulfilled in the same generation? Why not 100, 200 or 300 years ago? Why not 100, 200 or 300 years into the future? Why now! Because this is the generation that God said all prophecies would be fulfilled (Matthew 24:34).
In other news, according to news reports, former British prime minister Tony Blair's bid to become the EU's first president seems to be growing dimmer by the day. With the EU ministers coming to terms with the Czech's over the Lisbon Treaty, ratification of the treaty is approaching quickly, which in turn, will usher in a new permanent president.
Iran has turned down the U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency's plan to ship its uranium abroad for low-level enrichment. Israel has warned in the past that if the US did not stop Iran's nuclear progress or have sanctions in place by Christmas 2009 they would be forced to take matters into their own hands.
