Will the Third Temple be built next year?; Does selection of weak EU president mean delay in rapture of church?
According to a rabbinical prophecy, the third Jerusalem Temple will begin construction by March 16, 2010. "During the 18th century, the Vilna Gaon, a respected rabbinical authority, prophesied that the Hurva Synagoge in Jerusalem, which was built during his day, would be destroyed and rebuilt twice, and that when the Hurva was completed for the third time, construction on the Third Temple would begin (Israel Today)."
History states that the Hurva Synagogue has been rebuilt for a third time (third rebuilding to be finished on March 15, 2010) making way for the March 16th prophecy to be fulfilled. Certainly, all Christians and Jews await this monumental event, but whether it will happen in the coming months as predicted by Vilna Gaon is to be seen.
I have been receiving a few emails regarding the recent appointment of the new EU president and his seemingly powerless facade. With such a weak selection, many are resigned to believe that the Antichrist will not rise during this administration, and subsequently, causing the rapture to be put on hold as well. That certainly could be the case as far as the Antichrist is concerned. It should also be remembered that it's not 100% that he will rise up out of the European Union, but I do believe it is the probable starting point. With that said, there are a number of prophetic concepts that we should remember:
One, the rapture could happen today. There is nothing preventing this event from taking place at any moment...including the rise of the Antichrist.
Two, when the rapture does happen, Satan's choice for Antichrist will likely be based on who is in the best position to eventually make him (Satan) the god of this world (see Question# 971 for more details). Although it's possible I could be wrong, I do not believe Satan is aware of the future, the rapture or the tribulation period (see Question# 516 for more details).
Three, it's just as likely that the Antichrist will be made great by Satan as opposed to being great of his own accord. Meaning, it's not necessarily a prerequisite that the Antichrist possess all the characteristics described in the Bible at this time (see The Antichrist And His Activities). The present EU leader could be the Antichrist, but when Satan takes control of him, he will change dramatically. With this in mind, it's highly unlikely that you will be able to identify the Antichrist before he is revealed.
Four, following the rapture of the church, it could be months or even years before the Antichrist comes on the scene. With the EU presidential term lasting only two and one half years, the rapture could take place today and be years before the Antichrist is selected. He may be a future EU president a few appointments down the road. Frankly, I wouldn't rule out the European Union realizing there need to select a powerful leader for the next term. If they are to be a formidable competitor on the world stage it will be necessary for them to select a high profile president. I also look for the EU to take a leadership role in future Middle East peace talks, even to the point of pushing the US into a supporting role.
