'Hamas accepts Israel's right to exist'

Hamas has accepted Israel's right to exist and would be prepared to nullify its charter, which calls for the destruction of Israel, Aziz Dwaik, Hamas's most senior representative in the West Bank, said on Wednesday.

Dwaik's remarks are seen in the context of Hamas's attempts to win recognition from the international community.

Dwaik is the elected speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council. He was released a few months ago after spending nearly three years in an Israeli prison.

Dwaik was among dozens of Hamas officials and members who were rounded up by Israel following the abduction of IDF soldier St.-Sgt. Gilad Schalit near the Gaza Strip in June 2006.

His latest remarks were made during a meeting he held in Hebron with British millionaire David Martin Abrahams, who maintains close ties with senior Israeli and British government officials.

During the meeting in Hebron, Dwaik stressed that other Hamas leaders, including Damascus-based leader Khaled Mashaal and Gaza Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, have voiced support for the idea of establishing an independent Palestinian state within the pre-1967 boundaries.

"The [Hamas] charter was drafted more than 20 years ago," Dwaik noted, adding that his movement would even be prepared to "nullify" the document.

"No one wants to throw anyone into the sea," he said.

Dwaik also expressed Hamas's desire to engage in dialogue with the international community, first and foremost the European Union. He confirmed that Hamas was receiving financial aid from Iran, but said that this was the direct result of the boycott and sanctions against the movement.

Abrahams said that he would be happy to facilitate a dialogue between Hamas on the one hand, and Israel and the international community on the other. He said he was "very excited" to hear from the most prominent leader of Hamas in the West Bank that the movement would be prepared to nullify its charter and accept Israel.  Jpost.com

As shocking as it sounds, Aziz Dwaik, Hamas's most senior representative in the West Bank, said on Wednesday, that they were prepared to accept Israel's right to exist and nullify its charter.  This statement by such a high ranking Hamas official is suspect at best.  Don't be surprised if the Hamas leadership releases a statement in the very near future that refutes this report.  But according to Dwaik, the entire terrorist regime is in agreement:

During the meeting in Hebron, Dwaik stressed that other Hamas leaders, including Damascus-based leader Khaled Mashaal and Gaza Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, have voiced support for the idea of establishing an independent Palestinian state within the pre-1967 boundaries.

"The [Hamas] charter was drafted more than 20 years ago," Dwaik noted, adding that his movement would even be prepared to "nullify" the document.

Dwaik commented that his statement was directed toward the world community.  Hamas is especially interested in dialogue with the European Union.

There is no question that Hamas and the rest of the Islamic world are only baiting the international community with words they want to hear.  This could also have much to do with the EU's warning message to the PA that their aid package would not last forever without results at the negotiations table.

Certainly, no one can dictate where this will go next, but in the end, it will result in a short lived peace followed by a thunderous attack against Israel (Ezekiel 38 & 39).  Of course, the world community doesn't see it that way.

One more thing you should pay close attention to...Hamas has literally stated that they are very interested in dialogue with the European Union.  I take this as a mandate that Hamas is inviting the EU to take a lead role in future peace negotiations toward the creation of a Palestinian state.

Hamas is beginning to wise up to the fact that only international opinion will be able force Israel to divide their land.  If this Hamas change of heart is true, it will surely place the pressure on Israel to fall in line with world demands or face international isolations...and I doubt the US will step in and veto such sanctions this time.

One day, I will say this for the last time!

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!
