Blair hopes Middle East talks to resume within weeks; Syria warns: Next war will be ruinous
The excavations inside the Old City of Jerusalem at Jaffa Gate have turned up yet another fascinating revelation: A water canal, 40 meters long (44 yards) and 1.5 meters (5 feet) high.
The excavations are being conducted by the Israel Antiquities Authority as part of a “rescue” operation, customary in Israel before major construction work, prior to the replacement of underground infrastructures there.
It was announced last week that the ancient precursor of today's Old City road leading from Jaffa Gate to Mt. Zion was uncovered - precisely where an ancient and now-famous Mosaic map says it should be. IsraelNationalNews.com
For years, Islamic officials have been destroying ancient Temple artifacts in an attempt to cover up proof that the Jews have a historical claim to this holy site as well as Jerusalem. But, time and again, when historians have tried to discredit the validity of the Bible or Israel's claim to the land, God always sets the record straight.
Recently, excavators uncovered an ancient Israeli underground water canal that was "precisely where an ancient and now-famous Mosaic map says it should be."
This is just another example of why you can believe the Bible is true even when historians and so-called experts claim (sometimes for centuries) that they're not.
Case in point, for years, experts held to the belief that the Pool of Shiloam, spoken of in the Book of John, did not exist because it could not be found. But back in 2005, an excavation team made a surprising discovery that confirmed that the pool really did exist. This just proves once again, when in doubt, trust the Bible.
Iraq's main Sunni party said Saturday it is dropping out of next month's national elections, seizing on U.S. concerns about Iran's influence in the political process as proof that the vote will not be legitimate.
A statement from the Iraqi Front for National Dialogue stopped short of urging Sunni voters to boycott the March 7 parliamentary election. But the party called on other political groups to join it in withdrawing from the ballot.
Saturday's announcement raises the likelihood that the results of the vote will be called into question. U.S. and United Nations diplomats have expressed fears that a Sunni boycott that hands victory to Shiites would throw the results of the election into doubt. In turn, that could open the door to a new round of violence and delay plans for American troops to leave Iraq. Yahoo.com
The Sunni party dropping out of the Iraqi elections due to Iranian interference has left the US military in doubt as to when it will be able to leave Iraq. This could start up a new round of violence and leave the door open for Iran to swoop in and takeover through a proxy government much like Syria has done with Lebanon.
I believe this development has prophetic implications. I do not believe the US will ever leave Iraq but will be forced to maintain a military presence in the region indefinitely. This could play into the belief by some experts that the US will turn out to be the Biblical Mystery Babylon described in Revelation 16-18.
Syrian Prime Minister Naji al-Otari on Saturday warned
Israel that any new Mideast war would be catastrophic for the region and beyond.
Speaking to reporters Saturday after meeting with French Prime Minister Francois Fillon, he said that a new war will have dangerous repercussions not only in the Middle East but also on the international level.
Syria's foreign minister warned Israel earlier this month that any new war would reach Israeli cities, to which Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman responded that the Syrian army would be defeated and its regime would collapse in any future conflict.

Syrian Prime Minister Naji al-Otari warned Israel today "that any new Mideast war would be catastrophic for the region and beyond." If you haven't been following Middle East news, Israel and Syria have been in a heated battle of words for the last few weeks.
This recent escalation could one day very soon explode into real war. In fact, many prophecy experts believe this war of words could spell the beginning of the end for Syria as prophesied in Isaiah 17:1. Whatever the outcome, something major seems to be on the horizon for the region.
A few days ago, I reported that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had learned from sources that Israel was preparing for a spring or summer attack against the Islamic Republic. Whether or not this is true will be revealed in a few months, but with each passing day, Iran draws closer to their goal of producing a nuclear weapon. That simply can't go on indefinitely without a military response from Israel...and it must happen soon! Right now, Israel is playing the international community game and hoping their cooperation will convince world leaders to impose harsh sanctions on Iran. But Iran has already made up its mind and no amount of sanctions will detour them from their goal of becoming a nuclear state.
