Where Are We On God's Timeline?
Egypt's Ambassador to Israel Yasser Rida, believes there could be peace between Israel and Palestine within one year. He said, "If there is political will, Israel and the Palestinians can achieve peace within one year (Ynetnews.com)."
So with that said, where are we on God's prophetic timeline? Well, with Israel back inhabiting their own land (Isaiah 43:5-6; Ezekiel 37:10-14) after 2,000+ years, I believe we are in the final hour. But most of you wouldn't be reading my commentaries if you didn't share that same belief. I think we can all agree that we are living in the lasts days. With Israel regaining Jerusalem (Zechariah 12:2-3), and it becoming a stumbling block to the rest of the world, just as the Bible predicted, that only bolsters our belief that the rapture is upon us. The final piece of the prophetic puzzle is peace itself (Daniel 9:27). But before that peace can come, the rapture must first take place and the Antichrist must be revealed (II Thessalonians 2:.1-11).
I do believe we are in the midst of the peace we have been waiting for. Certainly, I would not rule out peace coming within a year as Egypt's Ambassador to Israel Yasser Rida has suggested. A number of issues make this scenario plausible. One, much of the intelligence world believes Iran will have a nuclear weapon and the means to deliver it within a year. As I write, sanctions against Iran are being tossed about in an attempt to persuade them to abandon their direction toward nuclear weapons At this point, the threat of sanctions seems to be failing and has served only to keep Israel from attacking their nuclear facilities. Now they are believed to be only a year away from completing their goal of becoming a nuclear power. That means Israel will have to act before this time if they are to stop this from happening..
Middle East leaders are saying a major regional war could break out this summer if positive steps toward peace are not established soon. Many believe Israel is very close to attacking Lebanon in an attempt to destroy the massive missile buildup that Hezbollah has amassed as proxy army for Syria and Iran. Lebanon is on high alert and in panic mode over this report.
Recently, US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said Hezbollah had an arsenal bigger than most countries. Israel has made it clear to Syria, if Hezbollah missiles are launched against Israel, Syria would be held responsible. I have to believe, if Syria is drawn into a war, Iran won't be far behind. Needless to same, this would be a nightmare for the US.
But I don't see this scenario playing out...at least not yet. It is my belief that peace will be established first before war comes to the Middle East. But make no mistake, war is coming, and when it does, Russia will be leading the pack (Ezekiel 38:2-6). However, this passage speaks of a time before this great war that Israel will be living in a time of peace and safety within the borders of their own land (Ezekiel 38:8, 11, 14). At this time, it is obvious that Israel does not live in peace and safety.
One other thing to keep in mind about these last days. I have always believed that the Antichrist would come on the scene in the midst of great turmoil. It would be through such turmoil that he would rise to international fame. Right now, the European Union is in a major financial crisis with multiple countries on the brink of collapse. Many financial experts are saying the stability of the euro is in grave danger and in much need of quick reform. If the euro were to become unstable that would adversely affect global markets around the world.
This is what Moneynews.com recently reported about the future of the Eurozone:
New York University economist Nouriel Roubini says the euro zone’s days
may be numbered, and he’s not talking about some day far off in the future.
“In a few days, there might not be a euro zone for us to discuss,” he said
at a Los Angeles conference sponsored by the Milken Institute, Reuters reports.
European policy makers may have to fork over 600 billion euros ($794 billion) in
aid or buy government bonds to erase the debt crisis, economists tell Bloomberg.
Roubini says Greece can’t come up with the 10 percent spending reduction
necessary to prevent its debt from exploding out of control.
And even if it could, its economy would get ruined in the process, he maintains.
Roubini compares Greece to Argentina in 2001, shortly before it defaulted on its
debt.
Greece’s budget deficit, at 13.6 percent of GDP, is much higher than
Argentina’s back then. Greece’s debt-to-GDP ratio and current account
deficit also are much higher, Roubini points out.
The solution, Roubini says: a debt restructuring that reduces interest rates and
extends maturities. In addition, Greece should exit the euro, he says (moneynews.com).
Could this near collapse force the Eurozone to restructure into the prophesied ten nation kingdom of the Antichrist (Revelation 17:3; Daniel 7:24)? Will the Antichrist rise up out of great turmoil (Daniel 8:24 & 25) and turn this world around financially and solve the Middle East crisis?
I don't know the future, but unless Iran changes its ways, Israel will be forced to respond soon. Of course, another option may be that Israel will accept a security agreement with the US that they will deal with Iran if Israel is threatened. I think this option will ultimately play a major part in the ME peace agreement. That doesn't necessarily mean that the US will broker the final peace accord, but they may provide the initial muscle.
Israel has suddenly, and without fanfare, decided to quietly freeze all construction in East Jerusalem. No doubt this change of heart was due to pressure from the US. This is a major hurdle in resuming talks. If this freeze holds up, I have to believe we may be on the verge of a temporary peace. You also need to recognize, a freeze in East Jerusalem, is an admission to the international community that Israel no longer believes they have claim to that part of the city. At least that's the message the Islamic world will convey.
