US: Proximity talks to begin next week
Reports indicate that the US is in talks to turn the Middle East into a nuclear free zone. Frankly, I can't even imagine Israel, Syria or Iran ever agreeing to such a proposition. It would take a delusion of epic proportions to pull something off of this magnitude.
The Bible says, when the Antichrist appears, he will come on the scene on the wings of many strong delusions (II Thessalonians 2:2-11) that will fool the world into believing his many lies. Actually, the strong delusions will be sent by God Himself, but the Antichrist will be His tool. As shocking as it may sound, Israel may one day put their trust in the Antichrist and agree to lay aside their nuclear weapons.
The President of the European Central Bank, Jean-Claude Trichet, said in an interview Friday, that if the world is to avoid another global financial crisis, it is imperative that they adopt a system of global governance. With Greece on the verge of collapse, and Spain and Belgium not far behind, major steps are going to have to be developed if the world is to avoid a double dip back into recession.
US officials are reporting that proximity talks are scheduled to resume next week. "We will be starting with proximity talks next week," Clinton told reporters, saying US special envoy George Mitchell would be returning to the Middle East (Ynetnews.com).
The ultimate goal is direct talks and I do believe they will get to that point by mid-summer. I have to believe Israeli leaders are now seeing the handwriting on the wall. But contrary to continuous assurances of steadfast US support for Israel, I think the Obama administration is determined to see a Palestinian state created by 2012 at any cost. That includes a UN veto betrayal if Israel does not agree to all their demands.
I just read an article about the similarities to South African Apartheid and the Israeli-Palestinian dilemma. Many feel it may take the same economic sanctions that was started by US institutions against South Africa in the mid-1980s to finally bring Israel in line with global demands. Whether sanctions will finally have to be levied against Israel is doubtful. Obama has already made it clear, if talks collapse again, he will be calling for a global Middle East peace conference in September. It is believed, following this conference, he may emerge to declare a forced Palestinian state and peace plan upon Israel.
It will be interesting to see where the proximity talks lead and if Israel will dare to break ranks with the US again .
