Palestinians approve indirect talks with Israel; Where we go from here!
Markets all over the world are in turmoil over the European debt crisis. The latest news out of Brussels is that EU leaders have agreed to a series of "strong steps" to help calm global fears. These steps include "consolidating European Central Bank to ensure eurozone stability and possibly set up a European mechanism to preserve financial stability and prevent future crises like the one that has engulfed Greece (AP)."
It's amazing that a European debt crisis would grip the world financial markets during the same time period that peace is being sought in the Middle East (Daniel 9:27) with Jerusalem being the main sticking point to said peace (Zechariah 12:3).
The Bible says that when these things begin to happen a man will rise up and "through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand (Daniel 8:25)". Many prophecy experts believe this passage is speaking of a time when the world will be in financial turmoil. It is during this period that the Antichrist will rise up and not only solve the financial problem but bring global prosperity. He will then further astonish the world by bringing peace to the Middle East. Of course, he could bring peace first and solve the financial crisis at a later date.
In other news, the Palestinian leadership has agreed to begin proximity talks with Israel. However, Israeli officials have strong doubts that any Palestinian leader will ever agree to peace due to the legacy of Yasser Arafat.
Many believe Arafat rejected the best offer the Palestinians were ever going to get back in 2000 at Camp David. “No matter what we do, I do not see a Palestinian leader who is willing to accept what Arafat rejected, and I don’t see a Jewish prime minister who can give more than what [Ehud] Barak offered. Therefore, I see it as a dead end,” Vice Premier and Regional Development Minister Silvan Shalom said on Thursday (Jpost.com).
Under normal circumstances he would be right, but the Bible is clear that a seven-year peace accord will come. Palestinian Leader Mahmoud Abbas has gone on record saying he will give proximity talks four months.
Frankly, I believe the time is right for the rapture of the church, the rise of the Antichrist, and the short peace that will follow. Lebanon has made it clear that they will not disarm Hezbollah, but in fact, will stand behind them in the time of war. Many are projecting a summer war between Israel and Lebanon. If this happens, I would not count out Syria, Iran, or Hamas (or all three) jumping into the mix. On top of all this, Iran is claiming they have now joined the world nuclear club. Whether they have or not, it's only a matter of time. Eventually, Israel will have to take military steps toward neutralizing this existential threat.
Are we in the midst of the calm before the storm? Is Israel planning to put a stop to Hezbollah's missile buildup? Will Syria, Iran, Hamas or all three step in when the war begins?
