Over the weekend, Michael Oren, Israel's ambassador to Washington, told Israeli officials that US-Israeli relations were in a steady freefall.  US officials would have you believe that US-Israeli relations are good but have experienced some ups and downs as of late.  Not so says Oren:

Michael Oren, Israel's ambassador to Washington, told foreign ministry colleagues at a private briefing in Jerusalem that they were facing a long and potentially irrevocable estrangement.

Sources said Mr Oren told the meeting: "There is no crisis in Israel-US relations because in a crisis there are ups and downs. [Instead] relations are in a state of tectonic rift in which continents are drifting apart."

Israeli officials have been quoted as saying that they expect a sterner private reception for their prime minister, who is yet to be fully forgiven for the perceived humiliation of Joe Biden, the US vice president, during a visit to Israel in March (telegraph.co.uk).

In a speech on Sunday, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, said that she believes President Obama is selling out Israel, the US and their allies.  I have to agree wholeheartedly with the former governor.  I look for the Obama administration to continue to distance itself from Israel, and eventually, cast much of the blame on them for the collapse of the Middle East peace talks.  Israel is certainly heading for a very difficult future.  Obama has also been very willing to cede world authority to others as well.  He is determined to put countries such as Russia and China on an equal level with the United States very often bowing to these leaders.  This is an example of weak, liberal leadership that is willing to do anything for our enemies, but get nothing in return. 

CIA Director Leon Panetta says that Iran likely has enough low enriched uranium for two nuclear bombs.  Of course, this has been reported at various levels for years and I assume the intelligence is accurate.  Russian President Medvedev has called it troubling and says the report needs to be investigated further.  "If this is proved, it would make the situation even more tense," Medvedev said, adding that Russia might need to re-examine its position on the matter (breitbart.com).  I don't find this statement by Medvedev all that shocking.  Russia's relationship with Iran is dependent upon Iran's usefulness toward Russian interest. At this point, it is in Russia's interest to sanction Iran and to play along with the international community.  But that will change as Russia's interests change. This will be evident when they lead an Islamic alliance, that will include Iran, against Israel in the yet future Battle of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38 & 39).  Russia's only purpose in this attack will be to take a spoil (Ezekiel 38:12). They will use Islamic hatred toward Israel to further their purpose and wealth.  To Russia, the attack will simply be a good strategic and business move.

According to an Hamas official, at least eight more flotilla ships will be challenging the Israeli naval blockade of Gaza following the World Cup.  This will put further world pressure on Israel to just drop the blockade all together.
