Israel to present peace plan with borders to US president; 'We must give US clear peace plan'
Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Monday said Israel must present a clear peace initiative to the US, showing proposed borders between Israel and a future Palestinian state.
Speaking to the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Barak noted that "Israel must present Obama with a clear initiative that discusses drawing a border in Israel in a way that settlement blocs along the border will remain in our hands and have a solid Jewish majority for generations, but in a way that will enable the establishment of an independent and demilitarized Palestinian state (Jpost.com)."
In a pre-speech before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets with US President Barack Obama on Tuesday, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak told the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that "Israel must present Obama with a clear initiative that discusses drawing a border in Israel in a way that settlement blocs along the border will remain in our hands and have a solid Jewish majority for generations, but in a way that will enable the establishment of an independent and demilitarized Palestinian state (Jpost.com)." As reported in earlier commentaries, Palestinian Leader Mahmoud Abbas has also passed on his own set of proposals to U.S. Middle East Envoy George Mitchell that he believes will establish permanent borders and eventually lead to Palestinian state.
Barak said that Israel's peace proposal was aimed at strengthening ties with both the US and its more moderate Arab partners. "We tend to ignore the importance of our peace with Egypt and Jordan," said Barak, "and we cannot be allowed to forget it (Haaretz.com)."
I believe tomorrows meeting between Obama and Netanyahu could push peace talks forward...possibly from indirect to direct talks.
America is in a very perilous state both politically and economically. Because we have turned our back on God, He has decided to allow our leaders to make very unwise decisions.
America has been very blessed over our history as a nation, but it has not been due to persistence, hard work, and self will. This nation has risen through the prayers of men and women such as yourselves who have dedicated their lives to live obedient and Christ-centered lives. Unfortunately, many Christians today have fallen into the traps of the world. Churches that used to be open multiple times throughout the week have reduced themselves to Sunday morning token service. This all s due to Christians allowing worldly pleasures to rule their lives rather than the Holy Spirit. The Bible says we are not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching (Hebrews 10:25). This verse states that we are to be in church learning the Word of God more (not less) as we see the coming of the Lord approaching. Are you guilty of helping to close the doors of your church on Sunday night and Wednesday prayer meeting?
Certainly, church attendance plays no part in salvation, but it does show one's commitment to the Lord. This nation will never rise to its former greatness Spiritually, politically, or economically until Christians humble themselves and once again seek the Lord. It's up to us, not the lost, to turn this nation around, and that goes for any nation not just America!
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (II Chronicles 7:14)."
Do you believe we are truly living in the last days? Then why aren't you obedient to the Lord through your faithfulness in church attendance? Stop listening to the weak philosophies of so-called worldly Christian's (if indeed they are Christians) and rededicate yourself back to living a committed life for Christ. We will never again regain our national Christian heritage until Christians once again begin to live a life that God can actually use.
I hope this message has sent you to your knees and renewed your commitment to the Lord. Without such your nation, where ever you live, is doomed!
