Prophecy Update April 23, 2013
According to US Secretary of State John Kerry, the Israeli special forces raid on the Mavi Marmara flotilla back in May 2010, is equivalent to the Boston Marathon bombings. Basically, the US administrations stand on the flotilla raid is that it was an act of terror on Israel's part:
“We have just been through the week of Boston, and I have deep feelings for what happens when you have violence, when something that happens when you lose people that are near and dear to you,” he said. “It affects the community; it affects the country. But going forward, you know, we have to find the best way to bring people together and undo these tensions and undo these stereotypes and try to make peace.” (AP)
Look for more and increasing negative pressure on Israel by US officials in the coming months.
Frankly, I look for both the EU and the US to continue pressuring Israel from without, while Israeli officials such as Justice Minister Tzipi Livni applies pressure from within for Israel to make peace. Soon, public opinion will begin to sway bringing to fruition Obama's main strategy for his April 2013 visit to Israel. This seems to be a time when peace at any cost is the order of the day.
Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi has said that he will not have diplomatic relations with Israel until peace is established with the Palestinians and a state is created. Since President Morsi has taken power much of the Sinai Peninsula has become a state of anarchy and instability. Look for this area to become a major battle front for Israel in the near future.
Recently, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stated his three main goals for Israel's future:
"Achieving peace with the Palestinians based on a two-state solution, stopping Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, and making Israel more tranquil, peaceful and secure (Jpost) ". There will come a time when he will have to make good on these goals or be voted out.
Even Hamas is trying to change its ways in an effort to get off of the EU's terror state list:
“Hamas will focus on convincing European countries to take its name out of the terrorism list. Hamas is certain that the US will not agree to take its name off the list. However, European countries set only one condition to do that — avoiding martyrdom attacks inside Israel, and Hamas hasn’t carried out any attack since 2004 (Maan News).”
If Hamas is successful in convincing the EU to take them off the terror list, I have to believe the US won't be far behind, especially if it will further the ME peace process. Spain has added fuel to the fire by saying it will open a Spanish consulate in Gaza, accredited to the Hamas administration during its upcoming visit to the Middle East. Look for more countries to follow Spain's lead by establishing a Palestinian mission in their country. This will further give the supposed Palestinian state credibility as a viable state. I have to believe UN recognition of full statehood and admission (with the blessing of both the US & EU) will be the next step whether Israel agrees to the move or not. This will ultimately force Israel to grant Palestine much of the West Bank for their state. However, I would be shocked if they went back to pre-1967 borders.
In the end, I look for the Middle East peace process to be solved be the EU with the blessing of the United States. The Bible says the peace that will come will be confirmed by a man who will rise up out of the Revived Roman Empire or the modern day European Union (Daniel 9:27).
If you haven't heard, Israel's Makor Rishon Hebrew daily has reported that archaeologist's have found a fully intact castle located in the Judean hills that dates back to the days of King David. "We appear to have a complete castle here," Kfar Etzion Field School Director Yaron Rosental told the newspaper. "Those who lived here after it did not know of its existence and thus, instead of using its stones to build a new building as was the usual practice, left it intact (Israel Today)."
Unfortunately, this discovery is being kept quiet by the Israeli government so that it doesn't upset the present peace process. For this reason, it is unlikely this castle will be unearthed anytime soon, but serves as another reminder by the Lord that Judea belongs to Israel.
Not only is the world pushing Israel toward a final peace agreement, but Israel seemingly is going along with this push. The question is, when will it happen and what will finally be the catalyst that will bring it about?
