French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in a joint statement May 30, called for the creation of a full-time presidency for the Eurogroup of finance ministers, the EU Observer reported May 31. The leaders said the position should be created after EU elections in 2014.

Al-Qusayr, AFP reported May 31, citing the leader of the Syrian National Coalition. The Facebook page of Liwa
al-Tawhid, a Qatari-backed group close to the Muslim Brotherhood, said its fighters have reached
Al-Qusayr. Another activist group said hundreds of rebel fighters have broken through army lines near the village of
Shamsinn, northeast of Al-Qusayr. The battle, in which rebels are fighting against Hezbollah as well as loyalist forces, could see sectarian violence spill into Lebanon.
U.S.: Iranian Oil Companies Sanctioned

The U.S. Treasury Department on May 31 blacklisted eight petrochemical companies owned or controlled by the Iranian government, Reuters reported. The sanctioned companies included Bandar Imam Petrochemical, Bou Ali Sina Petrochemical and Mobin Petrochemical. An unnamed U.S. official said Washington believes the Iranian oil industry is one of the largest sources of funds for Tehran's nuclear program. Given that the Iranian nuclear program continues to make technological advances despite mounting sanctions and repeated threats, the United States has been under increased pressure to show that it can make good on its threats against Tehran.

Analysis
Above is a list of Stratfor news wires that came across my desk today, but the
far and away prophetically significant news is French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela
Merkel's joint statement that the European Union must have a permanent full-time
president for the Eurogroup of finance ministers.
The paper says that "a full-time President for the Eurogroup of finance ministers relying on wider resources" should be created after the EU elections in 2014.
It calls for: more frequent eurozone summits; a "specific fund for the euro area" alongside the general EU budget; and new "structures" in the European Parliament to oversee euro-level economic governance.
It says eurozone countries should sign binding contracts on economic reform with EU institutions (EUObserver).
This, in my opinion, is a direct fulfillment of prophecy. Daniel 9:25-27 outlines what group of nations the coming Antichrist will ascend from and it is clear to virtually all Bible prophecy experts he will rise up out of the modern day European Union. There is no question in my mind that this first permanent president will be the coming man of sin. Certainly, that is speculation on my part , but I would certainly keep an eye on how this new political position begins to develop.
