Mideast Summit Faces Huge Challenges; Lieberman Warns Rice Not To Push Olmert Too Hard On Critical Issues
It is considered inevitable that Israel will have to let go of the Arab neighborhoods in East Jerusalem for the establishment of a Palestinian state capital. But one thing should be considered, the East Jerusalem Arab neighborhoods may not be handed over right away. It could be months or years before the eventual treaty states that they have to evacuate the territory.
As I pointed out in the newly revived Taba Negotiations, Israel will have 36 months to evacuate from Judea and Samaria, and another 36 months to leave the Jordan Valley. Israel may be afforded a similar timeframe to completely turn over East Jerusalem neighborhoods.
It's entirely possible that the battle of Gog and Magog will take place before East Jerusalem or the Temple Mount is officially turned over to the Palestinians. In the end, God may see to it that these two holy sites are never returned to the Islamic world.
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is still in the Middle East and has hinted that the date for the US hosted Middle East peace summit could be moved up to December. She indicated that it would be unwise to have a peace conference before all the core issues are settled. Everyone remembers what happened the last time a US lead peace conference failed. They certainly don't want a repeat of that outcome.
Quartet Middle East peace envoy Tony Blair is in the news. Apparently, he plans to launch an interfaith group that will help combat extremist world views.
Over the last few weeks, he has been meeting with prominent world religious leaders in secret meetings developing a plan that will bring the religions of the world together with the creation of common principles. He believes that many of the religions just don't understand each other due to disinformation that has been passed down through the ages.
Mr. Blair will be addressing a very prominent Catholic group in New York this week. Many believe he will use this forum to unveil his vision for the interfaith group and announce the creation of the foundation.
Russian President Putin has arrived in Iran despite reports that terrorists were plotting to assassinate him. At a summit of the five nations that border the Caspian Sea, Mr. Putin made a few veiled warnings toward the US not to attack Iran or to use nations in the region as a springboard for an attack.
"We are saying that no Caspian nation should offer its territory to third powers for use of force or military aggression against any Caspian state," Putin said.
"Threatening someone, in this case the Iranian leadership and Iranian people, will lead nowhere," Putin said in Germany. "They are not afraid, believe me." http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,302062,00.html
The US was planning to use Azerbaijan, a former Soviet republic and one of the nations that border the Caspian Sea, as a staging ground for a possible strike on Iran. That is probably in doubt at this time. But one thing's for sure, Russia has drawn a line in the sand as to which side they will be on if and when the bombs begin to drop.
From the news headlines in the last few months we have witnessed Bible prophecy either being fulfilled or strengthened. Here is a list of prophecies in the news that are well on their way to being accomplished. It should be taken into account that all of these prophecies could not have been fulfilled until after Israel became a nation in 1948 and the recapturing of Jerusalem in 1967.
1. Israel is involved in a peace plan that is believed could bring peace not only to the Middle East but to the world. Daniel 9:27
2. The peace plan that is being considered will be carried out in two stages of 36 months each. Look for that plan to be bumped up to two stages of 42 months each as the Bible predicted. Revelation 11:1-3, 13:5
3. The Taba Negotiations, which was created in December of 2000, is being reconsidered as the structure for the peace plan. Bible prophecy states that the antichrist will confirm a peace treaty with Israel that already existed. Daniel 9:27
4. The Bible says, in the last days when Israel is brought back to their land, Jerusalem will become a stumbling block and troublesome stoned to the world. As you know, Jerusalem is one of the main stumbling blocks to peace in the Middle East. Zechariah 12:3
5. In the last days, the Bible says that the world would be pushing toward a one world government and one world religion. Of course, this will not be completely fulfilled until the antichrist comes on the stage and declares himself to be God. But as you can see, the world is desperately trying to bring the religions of the world together under one common god. Both US President Bush and Quartet Middle East peace envoy Tony Blair are pushing towards this common goal. Revelation 13:11, 13-14
6. In the last days, Russia, Iran, and a host of other Islamic nations will descend upon Israel like a storm. This prophecy has been building for the last 10-15 years but has never been stronger than today. From the headlines you can see that Russia has drawn a line in the sand and has chosen to turn its back away from the US and align itself with Iran. Ezekiel 38 & 39
7. The Bible predicts in the last days (during the future tribulation period) a country from the East with an army of 200 million will march across Asia and Europe and kill 1/3 of the worlds population. China's military buildup in these last days is unprecedented (possibly the largest build up of our time) and has become very dangerous to world peace. With a population approaching 1.5 billion they could easily raise an army of 200 million. Revelation 9:14-19
