Peace Summit May Be More About Elaborate Six-Nation Deal Than Peace For Israel
In a report by Debkafile, sources have revealed that the upcoming November 27th Middle East peace summit in Annapolis has little to do with Israel but more in the way of an elaborate six-nation deal.
In this deal, Israel will be expected to give up deep concessions and withdraw heavily from the West Bank which will uproot upwards of 100,000 Israelis.
Sources are saying that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livini have kept back much of what has been going on behind closed doors from the Israeli public.
With that said, today, the Knesset approved a bill that would eventually require 80 Knesset members, rather than the normal 61 votes, to alter the boundaries of Jerusalem. "The bill is a clause to a basic law. It states that Jerusalem is Israel's capital, and that a Knesset majority is needed for any changes to the city's boundaries. This will make it a lot more difficult to divide Jerusalem if not impossible if Israeli lawmakers have their way. But truthfully, this peace agreement has gotten way bigger than Israel and has far-reaching implications that I have to imagine will make this last-minute bill irrelevant.
Here are the nations that are involved in this international scheme and how this deal looks to play out for each of them:
"The concessions exacted from Israel, DEBKAfile has learned, include the ceding of West Bank natural resources to Palestinian control, including shared sources of water. Talks have already begun for a US-Israeli Palestinian mechanism to supervise water sources, possibly including Jordan."
"Olmert has further consented to start negotiations with Syria on Israel’s withdrawal from the Golan. The talks will kick off at the follow-up to the Annapolis conference, which will take place in Moscow. He agreed to attend when he met Putin in the Kremlin Oct. 18."
"The Annapolis conference, according to DEBKAfile’s sources, is not just an event lasting a few hours, as Olmert downplays it, but part of a broad cooperative US-Russian initiative aimed at bringing the Russian president aboard Washington’s push for tough sanctions against Iran. Israel’s willingness to negotiate the Golan’s return was offered by Washington as bait to draw the Syrian president away from his pact with Tehran and stop meddling in Lebanon. The success of this ploy will be tested before the Annapolis conference, on Nov. 21, when Damascus must keep its hands off Lebanon’s presidential election."
"At some point, the Israeli prime minister and foreign minister will have some hard explaining to do for relinquishing the fundamental demand for secure and defensible borders, and overriding the country’s majority objections to the sweeping concessions to the Palestinians, which he is laying at the Bush administration’s feet." http://www.debka.com/headline.php?hid=4772
It's chilling to know that what has been reported thus far may only be the half of what the Israeli negotiators have given away.
But it's also very reassuring that this peace agreement is shaping up just as God predicted for these last days. In the end, whatever this agreement brings, God says that He will gather and destroy those who would come against His people Israel with a great and mighty victory that will shock the world ( Ezekiel 38 & 39).
