The Future Of Terrorism And Why Most Americans (And The World) Just Don't Get It
According to the latest CNN/USA Today Gallup poll, US President George Bush registered the lowest approval rating of his presidential career. He also scored all time lows for three other categories-terrorism, trustworthiness and whether the Iraq war was worthwhile. CNN.com
Personally, I don't put a lot of stock in liberal media polls. Certainly, President Bush has failed the Lord in his attempt to force Israel to sign a peace accord with a terrorist nation...and there will be Divine repercussions on our nation as a result. But he has made sincere attempts to spread peace and stamp out terrorism despite his decisions to use military force. Of course, not everyone would agree with that statement, but thanks to democracy, we are free to disagree.
Many Christians feel our recent economic slide and disastrous winter weather are a result of his policies toward Israel. I have to agree, but thankfully, there is little chance that he will accomplish this within his presidency. Frankly, I look for the next president to pull the US out of the Middle East peace talks, at least in a lead role. But before you get too excited, he/she won't be stepping back from the peace effort for spiritual reasons, but because it will prove to be popular. In the end, this move will prove to bring disastrous results that both history and Bible prophecy will later attest to.
By stating this, many might accuse me of being a staunch supporter of President Bush, one who refuses to give into the wishes of the American people. Actually, I'm not really a Bush fan and truly find no pleasure living in a nation at war, but I do recognize the connection between terrorism and the end times. I just happen to believe that, for the most part, he has it right. But with that aside, this is what I see for the coming year.
I look for 2009-10 to be the timeframe when the next president will start pulling troops out of Iraq, and possibly Afghanistan, in large numbers. When this happens, it probably won't be long after that before terrorist groups launch a military campaign designed to overthrow the present US backed Iraqi government and take possession of what is believed to be the largest untapped oil reserves in the world.
Yes, initially, this will be a very popular presidential move, but in time, will lead to disastrous results in the Middle East and ultimately on US soil as well.
"How will US evacuations from Iraq and Afghanistan bring about a disastrous result on American soil?" Let me explain. As horrible as war in Iraq and Afghanistan has been it has served two major purposes. One, it has centrally located and tied up many of the terrorists in the world by providing them with (as sadistic as it may sound) gainful employment. Two, because of the high concentration of terrorists at these Middle East locations, it has made it much easier to capture and kill said terrorists who otherwise would be strategically planted across the globe in cells ready to inflict destruction on unsuspecting targets.
Because of their Middle East preoccupation, it has only been in the last several months that US intelligence has received reports of an increased buildup of terrorist operatives (Al Qaeda, etc.) in Mexico. Certainly, that's bad news, but at the same time, one must ask, where have they been for the last seven years? The answer to this question is simple...they've been in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting against coalition troops and hiding out in the tribal mountains of Pakistan in fear of capture or death. It doesn't take a genius to surmise that this proactive approach to fighting terrorism has not only held our enemy at bay but kept the US attack free since 9/11.
I'm sure many will attempt to say that the US invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan had nothing to do with there being no successful terrorist attacks on US soil since 9/11. I wish that were true. When the bulk of coalition troops are ushered out of the Middle East, Iraq will likely fall into the hands of Iran through one of its surrogate terrorist armies (Hezbollah). I'm sure other surrounding Arab nations will jump into the fray in an attempt to prevent Iran from taking control, but in the end, they will not be denied. This is what Iraqi Foreign Affairs Minister Hoshyar Zebari said regarding this very situation back in July of 2007. "Iraq’s foreign minister warned on Monday that a quick American military withdrawal from the country could lead to a full-scale civil war, the collapse of the government and spillover conflicts across the region." AP There is no doubt in my mind that this is exactly what will happen. Within a year of the pullout both nations will likely be under terrorist control.
Following the defeat of these US puppet governments, don't look for the terrorists to return to their families and live out a quiet Middle Eastern life. Sounds reasonable by American standards, but the truth is, terrorism is the only life they know. The overwhelming majority will either concentrate their efforts on a new project (ex. terrorist attacks in the US) or join another terrorist group in the region. My guess is, the US and Israel will be their next targets. For they will not rest until Western imperialism is defeated, Israel is pushed into the sea and Islam rules supreme.
