Iran and Israel Poised for Possible Military Clash over Mughniyeh’s Death
In a major blow to US foreign-policy, the pro-Musharraf party was crushed in elections on Wednesday and conceded defeat before results were even tallied. Although President Musharraf will remain in power, it is believed that many of his policies and his pro-US stand will be a thing of the past. But the US has vowed they would work with the new government.

Many in the new government are calling for Musharraf to step down but he has quickly ruled out that possibility. Surprisingly, the post election mood has gone much smoother than expected, but I have to believe President Musharraf will not give up control this easily. He came to power through a military coup and I see little chance that he will walk away willingly. I would be shocked if election results were not overturned and martial law enforced in the near future.
Sources are saying that while Israeli negotiators claim Jerusalem is not being negotiated in peace talks Palestinian negotiators are saying it is. Certainly, someone is lying! Normally I would not take the side of Palestinian terrorists but I do believe that (Israeli) negotiators are in the process of giving half of Jerusalem away. Actually, Jerusalem has always been on the table even before the Annapolis Peace Conference. It is and will be part of the eventual Middle East peace plan and I don't see that changing. When peace comes, Jerusalem will be split.
Since the assassination of senior terrorist Imad Mughniyeh, Iranian President Ahmadinejad has stepped up his rhetoric against Israel even more calling Israel a "black and dirty microbe" that has infested the region. General Hassan Firouz-Abadi, commander-in-chief of all Iran’s armed forces, continued the verbal assault in a speech at a ceremony in memory of Imad Mughniyeh saying, “Many millions across the world will soon receive the joyous news of the Zionist entity’s destruction.” Debkafile
Israel is taking these threats very serious and has reinforced its northern border against a possible attack by Hezbollah, Syria and Iran. The US believes that "these unbridled speeches are taken as an orchestrated campaign to raise Middle East temperatures up to the climax of an Iranian attack on Israel." Debkafile
I couldn't agree more. It would not shock me in the least if we awoke one morning to the news that a massive Islamic army was amassing on Israel's northern border. Scripture is not completely clear when the war of Gog & Magog will take place. It could happen prior to the tribulation period. In fact, many prophecy experts believe this war could also trigger the rapture of the church as Christ comes to deliver Israel from their gathering enemies (Ezekiel 38:4-23). Following this war, it will take Israel seven months to bury the dead and seven years to burn the weapons (Ezekiel 39:7-10). Some believe that, following the rapture, many years could pass before the tribulation period begins.
As always, keep an eye on this situation... it could blow up in a moment!
