Erekat: 6 months to peace deal; Top negotiator for Palestinian Authority says solutions at hand for all core issues, now is time for decision-making. Speaking at conference organized by Peres Center for Peace, Erekat says 'Israeli and Palestinian leaders who reach an agreement will be more important to region's history than Jesus'
"If we want a peace agreement – there are only six months left. This is the time to make decisions," Saeb Erekat said on Thursday evening.
Speaking at a conference organized by the 'Peres Center for Peace' at Tel Aviv University, the top negotiator for the Palestinian Authority was joined for a discussion on the recent renewal of Israeli negotiations with Syria by MK Yossi Beilin (Meretz) and former director-general of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Dr. Alon Liel.
"Our goal is to reach an agreement. Regarding the core issues: Jerusalem, the refugees and the borders – all these have solutions. This is the time for decisiveness. We will not go back to talks over temporary arrangements or temporary border, we intend to reach an agreement and this is possible for all the core issues. We need to make decisions, and (Prime Minister) Olmert and (Palestinian President) Abbas are capable of making them.
"The 'Israeli and Palestinian leaders who reach an agreement will be more important to region's history than Jesus," said Erekat.
"Ultimately the only solution possible is that of two states in the 1967 borders. Like it or not, you have three options: two states, a bi-national state, and the current situation," said Erekat, alluding to an 'apartheid state.' Ynetnews.com
This peace will come and I believe it will be soon. The question is, who will bring it? Israeli Prime Minister Olmert is doing everything he can to remain necessary in the peace process from agreeing to ridiculous Palestinian concessions to paying off Hamas for a temporary cease-fire. This will place Israel in a very dangerous position, and in the end, it will be the Lord who will save them from certain destruction.
A few months ago I wrote that Israel may be on the verge of discovering oil or pioneering a renewable energy source. The reason behind this belief is that Russia, who will join and lead an Islamic alliance against Israel (Ezekiel 38:4-12), will attack for the motive of taking a spoil. At this time, Israel really doesn't have anything of value that I and many Bible scholars believe would entice Russia to lead an attack against Israel. But that could all change very soon. As you know, Israel just introduced that they were getting into the electric car business and would create an infrastructure to support such vehicles. I look for them to explode onto the scene with a cutting edge battery technology in the very near future.
Just this week, a Jewish inventor introduced a solar power system that is considered a major breakthrough that may provide energy to the homes of the world in the very near future. The inventor is Arnold Goldman and his company is named BrightSource Energy Inc. Major companies in the US such as Google.org and BP Alternative Energy have invested tens of millions of dollars in this company along with other major investors. This has enabled him to build the world's first solar thermo energy field which is based in the Negev region of Israel.
Here's how it works and its potential energy production for the future:
Located between the southern cities of Arad and Dimona, the site is the testing ground for five larger solar fields that Goldman plans to build in California.
The field of 1,640 robotic mirrors, called heliostats, looks a little like a mechanical rock concert in action when the sun rises in the morning.
Each mirror is slightly larger than a ping pong table and is controlled by a computer; the tables turn toward the sun as it moves through the sky. The mirrors focus the sun's rays on the point of a 200-foot tower where a water boiler is to produce high-pressure steam.
The system is designed to produce up to 900 megawatts of clean, renewable energy for the State of California in the next decade, enough to power 540,000 homes per year. IsraelNationalNews.com
I believe this could play into the future of how we heat and bring electricity into our homes. It may even change the face of the electric car industry from batteries to solar power or incorporate a combination of both recharging batteries on-the-fly. If this were to succeed it could render oil and natural gas virtually obsolete.
As you know, Russia is one of the leading producers of oil and the number one producer of natural gas (for heating homes). If this technology were to take off worldwide it would virtually bankrupt Russia and much of the Arab world. This could be one of many possible reasons behind Russia's interest in joining (and leading) an Islamic alliance in a yet future attack against Israel (Ezekiel 38 & 39; to take a spoil).
Whether this will play out as the reason behind Russia's sudden interest in attacking Israel only the Lord knows. But it is definitely a possibility that we cannot ignore.
