France to mediate in direct Israel-Syrian talks; Why Disasters Are Getting Worse
According to secular newsmagazine Time, disasters are getting worse year by year with the biggest growth occurring between 2000 and 2007.
"If it seems like disasters are getting more common, it's because they are. But some disasters do seem to be affecting us worse - and not for the reasons you may think. Floods and storms have led to most of the excess damage. The number of flood and storm disasters has gone up by 7.4% every year in recent decades, according to the Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters. (Between 2000 and 2007, the growth was even faster - with an average annual rate of increase of 8.4%.) Of the total 197 million people affected by disasters in 2007, 164 million were affected by floods." Time
The Bible predicted that this was going to happen 2000 years ago (during the last days) around the time when Israel would reclaim their land (Matthew 24:7; Mark 13:8; Luke 21:11). It also mentioned that it would get worse (just the beginning of sorrows) and would take place during a time when nations would rise against each other.
Of course, being a secular magazine, Time tried to make sense of this last days increase in natural disasters attributing it to various rational explanations, but there will come a time when all rational explanations will emphatically point directly to God... but when that happens... it will be too late!
According to various news reports, France will be mediating future direct talks between Syria and Israel. France and the European Union are presently being led by Nicolas Sarkozy, someone I believe could play a significant role in the future of Bible prophecy. Something else that is noteworthy regarding Mr. Sarkozy is that he is of Jewish descent. The reason I bring this up is because many in the prophetic world believed that the future Antichrist will be of Jewish descent. Personally, I don't believe that this qualification is necessary, but for those who do, here is a little ammunition to fuel the fire.
"IN an interview Nicolas Sarkozy gave in 2004, he
expressed an extraordinary understanding of the plight of the Jewish people for
a home: 'Should I remind you the visceral attachment of every Jew to Israel, as
a second mother homeland? There is nothing outrageous about it. Every Jew
carries within him a fear passed down through generations, and he knows that if
one day he will not feel safe in his country, there will always be a place that
would welcome him. And this is Israel.'”
"Sarkozy’s sympathy and understanding is most probably a product of his
upbringing it is well known that Sarkozy’s mother was born to the Mallah
family, one of the oldest Jewish families of Salonika, Greece." ajn.com.au
It should also be curious to you that Mr. Sarkozy is the current EU rotating president and will hold that position until the end of 2008. It should also be mentioned that the leaders of the Palestinians, Syrians and Israelis are all willing to work with him toward making peace possible. Whether it will be during his time as European Union president is hard to say, but I believe this temporary peace is coming... and soon!
Is French President Nicholas Sarkozy going to bring peace to the Middle East and the world? Only time will tell, but I certainly wouldn't cross him off my list just yet.
