Why I Will Vote My Biblical Principles And Not For A Man In The 2008 US Presidential Election!  And Why Every Christian Better Do The Same!

Question

Hello Terry,

My name is ********.  I am a Christian and have always taken an interest in end time prophecies, which is how I was led to your website by the discernment of the Holy Spirit.

I am a registered Democratic Voter.  And come Election Day, November 4th, I plan to vote for Presidential Candidate Barak Obama.  However, based on the description of the antichrist from the bible, and an email I received about a year ago saying that Mr. Obama is the antichrist, I can’t help those thoughts from coming into my mind.  Of course I know not to believe everything I read on the Internet, but now that the thought has entered my head, it has remained there.  Now it’s no secret from reading your website that you are not a fan of Mr. Obama, so I’m not sure if it’s fair to ask you for an objective view.  Therefore I’ll just ask for a view in general.  Do you think my views are farfetched, or could there be some biblical truth to Mr. Obama being the antichrist?

Answer

Thanks for your question about U.S. presidential candidate Mr. Obama.  If you haven't read the following article it addresses my belief on Mr. Obama and the antichrist.

Article# 834: Obama The Messiah?  Could Barack Obama Be The Future Antichrist?...Provided He Gets Elected...

Regarding why I don't endorse Mr. Obama for president.  As a Christian who must stand before God, I would never knowingly vote for any candidate that stands on a pro-gay rights or pro-choice platform.  Don't get me wrong, I am not against either of these groups of people (they are sinners in need of a Savior just as I once was) but Mr. Obama seeks to pollute/curse our land with legislation that will continue to push us toward the imminent wrath of God. Murder of the unborn is wrong!  The gay lifestyle is wrong!  And God will judge America, this once great nation under God, if we continue to travel down this road.

I have no ill will toward Mr. Obama or his family.  He simply stands for everything I am against spiritually and Biblically.  As a man, he can't and won't bring change any more than Mr. McCain will.  Neither of these men would I say are real born again Christians.  But Mr. McCain says he will maintain the sanctity of the family (marriage strictly between a man and a woman) and Mr. Obama says he will redefine the family to include homosexual unions.  Mr. McCain says he will protect the unborn and appoint pro-life judges that will one day reverse Roe vs. Wade.  Mr. Obama says he will not protect the rights of the unborn and will appoint judges that will maintain the abortion status quo.

This is a very important time for Christians and they better get it right. Let me explain.  It's believed that at least two Supreme Court justices could possibly retire under the next president.  If Mr. Obama is elected he will appoint two pro-choice/pro-gay rights judges.  That would reverse any gains past pro-life presidents have made and tip the scales back in the direction of the pro-choice movement.  Some believe it would ultimately give pro-choice a clear 6-3 lead among Supreme Court judges. That would ultimately be the death of the pro-life movement and would certainly destroy the traditional family unit as we know it.

Shockingly, I have talked to a number of professing Christians about the upcoming elections and virtually all are no longer considering abortion or gays rights as even an issue of consideration as to whom they will vote for.  This is a very sad spiritual state of today's Christian.  These are principles that a Christian should be holding to without wavering.  Unfortunately, I fear that God will judge many so-called Christians because they have allowed the economy to over-ride their principles.  In essence, they have turned their back on God and put their trust in a man who can't make good on any of his promises unless the Lord wills it.

Frankly, this election is not about change or a man.  When I go to the polls on Election Day I will be voting my principles and not for a man.  When I leave the polls I will be praying that other Christians are doing the same.  If not, this nation is in a tremendous amount of trouble...and all I can say is God help us!

If you want change, look to the one who has the power to seat and unseat kings (Psalm 75:6-7) and who causes blessings to fall (Psalm 145) on those He chooses.  If this nation rises from the ashes (seeks repentance) or falls in disgrace it will be because God has willed it and not because of some man.  The sooner America (or any other nation) realizes that the sooner God will heal their land.

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (II Chronicles 7:14)

This is the secret to change.

Thanks for asking the question and I hope it has helped.

Are you ready to meet the Lord?  If not, your time is running out!
