At the urging of the US government, the UN Security Council on Tuesday adopted a resolution declaring peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians "irreversible."

The resolution makes no room for changing circumstances or non-compliance by the parties involved. It appears to have been passed in response to Israeli prime ministerial frontrunner Benjamin Netanyahu's stated intention to alter the flow of the peace process as a result of Palestinian non-compliance.

The opening the resolution, which was co-sponsored by the US and Russia, refers to the Security Council's "commitment to the irreversibility of the bilateral negotiations" between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Various UN officials who spoke at the session clarified the meaning of the resolution by insisting that the coming year must see a headlong rush to birth a Palestinian Arab state on most, if not all, of Israel's biblical heartland of Judea and Samaria.  Israel Today

A number of abortion-related measures instituted during George W. Bush’s tenure in the White House could face early reversal by the incoming Barack Obama administration.

According to reports, one of President-elect Barack Obama's first Bush reversals will be the anti-abortion measures he instituted during his 8 years in office.  This was to be expected, and all I can say is, God help America...but if He doesn't judge America He will owe Sodom and Gomorrah a great apology.

The US is at this time urging the UN, who really needs no urging, to adopt a mandate that will render the peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians "irreversible".  This resolution was passed in light of an anticipated victory by hardliner Benjamin Netanyahu to be Israel's next prime minister.  As stated in yesterday's update, Mr. Netanyahu is expected to take the peace talks in a different direction and abandon the Quartet "Road Map".  The Quartet, US, and UN are not about to let that happen.

For you that have been following my website for years you saw this coming.  For the newcomers, get ready for a forced peace agreement that Israel will have very little, if any, input in.

Something else to keep in mind...Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas does not plan on seeking re-election and will be holding new elections in April 2009.  I would assume that the UN, US and Quartet will push to have everything signed and sealed before he leaves office rather than deal with the next Palestinian president.  I would be looking for something major in the early part of 2009.
